Is anyone planning to pick up windows vista & office 2007 next week?
Any thoughts on the new roll out? [?]

Two people I work with have been using these for about week, I'm holding off for at least a few more months. Visually I think they look pretty awesome. However, I worry about how performance will be effected to support all that visual eye candy.

There are few antivirus programs that work with it at the moment. Peripheral drivers probably haven't been written for it yet also, so I'd hold off for six months minimum.

I just finished upgrading to Windows 98!! [:o)]

Wouldn't the work be done by the GPU? I imagine it would be like playing a 3d game but the game is the OS .

Unless you're Mr Data, I don't think you need to worry about framerates for the OS GUI.

I work for a Microsoft Gold Parterned firm and while we've been testing it out on a few boxes, AFAIK we have no current plans for company wide Vista implementation.

Regarding Vista, I'd agree with Cee. Wait a few months and let the geeks work all the bugs out first.[B)]

What I've seen of Office 2007 looks pretty cool, especially if you need to collaborate with people at different locations.

The Expressions Design suite has a really nice Web Designer program. It's simliar to Microsoft's Web Visualizer but with more of a "Dreamweaver" like interface and some boosted up Visual Studio features. The Graphic Designer program is a total waste, no way will it replace Photoshop. [xx(] The Interactive Design program has potential but it's just not there yet. The learning curve on it is huge besides.

That and wait until it is supported by nLite, so you don't have to install half the crap it comes with.
