When I was a kid, Saturday afternoon was when you watched Monster Movies on tv.

It's a little fuzzy to me, but I remember a show called "Eivom" ('movie' backwards, get it....) where a voice would creepily say "Eeeivom" and this hand would come out of a slime puddle. Every week, they'd show some great, crummy monster movie like "War of the Gargantuas". Didn't Grandpa Munster host some horror movie show at one point as well??

What ever happened to this wonderful tradition? Tell me I'm not the only one who remembers doing this...!

YES!!!!! I remember the hand too! And just as vaguely [:(] But I do remember the Godzilla and other monster movies on Saturdays. Loved those. They need to be brought back. What a great, great, great tradition. And while we're at it, how about those kung fu movies we used to have on Saturdays too? Great stuff to watch when it was too cold to play outside.

He used to play some cheesy good mexican horror films and chop socky flicks in the mid-80's. I still miss his show.

In Boston it was called Creature Double Feature on ch 56.

Holy shit,take me back.In the 60,s in Eastern Ontario we had Monster Movie Matinee.It came from Syracuse N.Y(I think) and featured two hosts Dr Whitty and Igor and a very unconvincing model of a spookey old house on a hill.Most of the movies were your 50,s cheapie drive-in horror flicks.I believe it aired Saturday,s at noon or one.

Holy Shit.

It was on at 1 pm every Saturday afternoon. Any worthwhile cartoons were done by 11, you had time to get outside for a couple of hours & still make Monster Movie Matinee.

Remember all you ever saw of Dr. Whitty was his hand with the long nails & stiches? Man...good memories.

Supposedly the TV station has the haunted house on display. I work next door to them, I should drop by...

Possibly. I just remember seeing Godzilla movies quite often. Is War of the Gargantuas the movie with a green one and a brown one?

The hand out of the mud puddle was Chiller theatre. The voice said "ChILLER" then sank into the puddle. I used to freak out at that part. I just googled it to make sure.

Ok now I remember! There was a swamp with a dead tree. Then the word chiller came out made of clay. Then the 6 fingered hand rose out and gobbled up the letters. Man I loved watching that stuff. I really miss it. Why isn't there a channel dedecated to that stuff?

I remember that too! It was on channel 11 in the New York area. I used to watch that as well.

Growing up in the 70s was great for Saturday TV in general- First, the Little Rascals would be on at 7am, then Bugs Bunny was on at 8 am,then Scooby Doo followed by Creature Feature-Chiller movies at 11AM. Then at 1pm, the original Spiderman cartoons would be on. Sundays were great too because they would have the Bowery Boys followed by an Abbot & Costello movie. Ahhh, those were the days.

Man, did I love this show. Had the Underoos, the doll and everything.

Batman has a snazzy Batmobile, but all they could scrounge up for Captain Marvel was a Winnebago. A Winnebago. Man, the 70's were cheezy.
