Private School on DVD

Postby ghosty » Mon Mar 12, 2007 12:12 pm

C'mon guys...you know you love this flick. I remember watching it on cable in the mid-80's as a horny 13 year old. Now nearly 25 years later I've come to the conclusion that I must've been extra stupid at 13. Yep, it just came out on DVD and my affection for everything this film represented to me forced my hand and I had to purchase it. Frankly this movie is a disaster. Not one funny moment in it. Matthew Modine and the rest of the guys in the cast are painfully unfunny, mugging and leering at the camera in a way that makes Adam Sandler look like the master of subtlety. But who cares about those losers, right? It's Phoebe Cates right after "Fast Times"! Ah yes Phoebe..posessor of the most beautiful face captured on film...and yet it's really Betsy Russell who steals the show and actually delivers all of the skinflick fun the movie promises. The horseback riding scene? The massage? It's the stuff of adolescent male fantasies.
Nevertheless I had to watch this movie over a period of days and in ten minute blocks because it was just that stupid.
Worth it though for Phoebe and Betsy.[;)]
