Actually, I never leased a car. I can see the point I guess but 2 things make me buy not lease. First I don't worry about dings and scratches and them knocking money off the deal. Second I can own my car then sell it and just keep the money. Take that biotches!

I'm all about owning ... I'll keep a car for a solid 8 years, put 150+K on it before I start shopping for a new one. Besides, it's nice to be car payment-free for a least a few years.

Well, there could potentially be many reasons. First, typically, a car depreciates and a home appreciates. You could drive a much nicer car and potentially pay quite a bit less. You could always sell your vehicle even if you lease, and make money if your car retains it's value (which most don't).

I can see buying a car as the preferred method if you pay for it up front, but if you're making monthly payments anyway, why not let the money get you about twice as much car by leasing it?

I bet 75% of the cars on the road today are leased (no facts mind you, just a guess. I know the board is big on having one's facts in order before speaking these days)

So far, I'm the only one who voted for the leasing option.

I never understood the leasing thing, either, although now, by reading some of the above helpful info, I can finally see why.
Regardless, I'm all for buying a car outright. I'm kind of an anomaly that way, though (to the chagrin of the Corporate America machine, I'm sure). My husband and I each bought an old, used car with very little value. Who cares, as long as it runs and gets you where you need to go, right ? I have no regard for car value as a reflection on you as a person.

(*sniff...exept for my old muscle car, my Duster. Sadly gone...sniff*)

I'm with MikeP.

I would do like KYYX but neither my husband or I have mechanical skills, so an old car scares us. We don't buy big and fancy though. We buy what is economical, safe, and comfortable for us.

We also don't lease because we have a big commute and also because we like to travel alot and if you go over miles with your lease you're screwed.

<p align="justify">Maybe if I was a rich guy I'd lease some foreign shitbox like a Maserati or somethin' and then dump it after a coupla years to drive a Lotus[8D] Those are the kinds of vehicles I'd never buy, but would lease for the pleasure of driving something rare and/or exotic. MBZ and BMW... those are expensive, but I don't see the point in owning something which isn't rare. Fuck it, I'd rather buy a refurbished DeLorean before buying a BMW[}:)]

BMW/MB - 2million to 5 million
Honda/ Toyota - 800,000 to 1.5million
4WD - 1million to 3 million

So maybe a million pesos is equivalent to 20,833.33 dollars???

The minimum wage here is about 250 to 300 pesos.
