which of these songs are classic rock or oldies ? - Wooly Bully, California Dreamin, Monday Monday and Doo Wah Diddy?

In my book their all oldies.

For me, classic rock is more 70's aimed music: Eagles, Steve Miller,Frampton, Clapton, etc. I'm not much into oldies (my parents music), but my husband is a classic rock fiend, so I end up listening to alot of it.

I really like 70's light rock.

Bread, England Dan and John Ford Coley, America, Hall and Oats, Seals and Croft etc.) Sometimes it's just right for the drive at 5.

What is classic rock and what is oldies really depends on your age and how much time has passed.

To a 14-year-old, nearly everything discussed on this board is oldies and 90s alternative is classic rock.

Good point. I remember when one station (oldies 103) in Boston started out they played songs from the 50's and 60's. Now they're playing stuff from the 60's and 70's. The way I see it, new wave and the 80's should be next.

By my standards , this is deep and well thought out .

Our Oldies station has an ad on TV - lots of 50's & 60's stuff - but also KC & the Sunshine Band & Donna Summer.

I don't know if any new wave makes onto their playlist, but disco certainly has... makes sense though. It's just a little older & plays into that "happy sunny past" these stations thrive on.

Maybe that's just it though - "oldies" is mostly 50's rock, early 60's pop, motown and "happy" music from the rest. It's a feel-good vibe they're trying to pass off. I can't imagine they'd play DOA or Sympathy for the Devil.

I dunno Wolvie, there's an "oldies" station here that plays the Rolling Stones all the time, I've even heard "Miss You" on there, which came out in '81 if I'm not mistaken. I've also heard The Cars on so called "oldies" stations before.
