Some people love him indiscriminately while others find him a tad overrated. What do you think? What other crooners come to mind? I like lots of them: Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Al Martino, etc.

I like Frank Sinatra. I like all the Rat-packers. One of my fav songs by him is "Water to drink" It's just so hip[8D]! Dean Martin is one of my favs. I own all the Dean Martin roasts/variety hour.

Not a huge Sinatra fan, but I think "In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning", or whatever it's called, is pretty great.

BTW, Sirius radio now has a Sinatra channel.

Not a fan at all. Count me in as one who finds him overrated. Maybe it's spillover from my parents who really disliked him though.

I love a lot of the standards - doesn't matter who the singer is, although Dean Martin is always great. I liked Bobby Darin and Peggy Lee too.

I find myself drifting over to some 40', 50's big band and vocal on the occassion. I drive my wife and son crazy on a two hour roadtrip I'll jump from Bert Kaempfert orchestra to Electric Penguins then to Danielle Dax. I've been looking into buying a fedora and smoking jacket too.

The rat-pack - crooner type music has never really connected with me. Talented, sure, but they all strike me as kind of smug and slimy - Dean Martin especially, with Sinatra right behind.

Without question Frank and Dino rule! I would have loved to have seen them sing back in the day. Especially Dean.

man...Johnny Mathis irritates the crap out of me. I think it's his diction when he sings - it's so perfect & he always sounds like he's smiling...like some big queeny doofus.

Although....the X-Files used one of his songs in the infamous Peacock Family episode & now, everytime I hear Johnny, I think of murderous, inbred, mutated creeps. That's pretty cool.

Sorry, just had to vent.

Well, in small doses I guess. I can't say that I care at all about Sinatra or the Rat Pack.

I tend to love the purely instrumental Easy Listening music a lot more than the type with vocals.

Hes quite famous here in the Philippines. Most of his songs can be sung in a Karaoke machine. I heard him thru my fathers old records. Stranger in The Night is my favorite.
