Count me in with those who think this is a gross overreaction to the VT shootings. I believe if they are going to start profiling students you need more than a single attribute to judge them on. So much for uncensored creative writing in this country.

It'd be really nice if the article included a quote from someone stating how writing a really bad essay is a crime. I can see how writing "as a teacher, don't be surprised on inspiring the first [Cary-Grove High School] shooting" can get you suspended, but arrested? Sheesh.

Aw, how cute. They're going to make an example of somebody. What great timing, too. This arrest will really bring back those 32 innocent victims.

The AP left out a crucial piece of info. Allen Lee is Asian. And here you thought they only racially profiled against blacks and Latinos...

My sophmore year in computer science I made a text adventure game I made in BASIC (on a TRS-80)where you were trapped on campus and you had to make it to the girls locker room to save the cheerleaders while killing all the teachers who were turned into zombies because of an accident in the chemistry lab.

my teacher thought it was so well done he sinc'd it up with the whole computer lab for all his classes to play. The vice principle found out about it which resulted in a conference with my parents the school shrink and the principle.

That was in 83'and the school shrink said the game showed suicidal tendencies, all of this only boosted the games infamy.

They ended up kicking me out of computer lab.[:(]

Well at least you didn't commit suicide...[:D] Beside Suicidal Tendencies was an OK band: All I wanted was a Pepsi![;)]

OOH LOOK THEY MADE HEADLINES! This only serves to make the faculty feel better about themselves and that's all. These kinds of actions don't solve crime in the least. But hey, It makes them feel good inside and it gives them a sense of false security. Why are evil doers seeds of mandatory laws???

You know I never say this but I honestly hope they sue the school. Granted the stuff he wrote was disgusting, and f***ed up, but he shouldn't be arrested for it. Placed into some sort of mandatory counceling, perhaps suspended, but arrested?

Get ready folks, 1984 is just around the corner!

I can write better than that and have never done a creative writing course in my life, the charges should be for 3rd grade writing skills and a bad story with no class not for violence or swearing!Clearly these 'creative writing things aren't what they are cracked up to be in light of recent evidence, think I'll stick to my 'how to write a novel' guide thanks![:D][:p]
