"A Salt Lake City woman has been charged with attempted criminal homicide for allegedly hitting her husband in the head while he was blindfolded. Amy Ricks, 34, was arrested after the incident, which occurred May 4. She was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court.
The attack occurred in a Holladay condo, the home of Ricks' parents, according to court documents.
Ricks told her husband she had a surprise for him, according to the documents. She then put a blindfold on him and spun him several times.
While he was spinning, she hit his head with a hammer several times. The husband pulled off the blindfold and saw sleeping bags, a knife and plastic bags nearby. He ran and called police.
If convicted of the second-degree felony, Ricks could spend up to 15 years in prison and could be fined $5,000."
