everybody's talking about it: new strategy ?
Last night on talk radio, I heard a very cogent and logical discussion about the Iraq war, a new strategy and its concommitant issues. I'm sure you all have noticed/ heard that this is THE must-have issue right now! Every news outlet is dissecting this topic.
ANYWAY, this fellow pointed out that what WE are fighting for in Iraq and what the Iraqis are fighting for are two different things. How can we achieve "victory" if that goal means two different things ? We are (ostensibly) fighting Al-Qu. in Iraq, a group that had hardly a whiff of a presence there before we got there and muddied things up. But the Iraqis, it must be pointed out, are fighting the Sunnis. Sectarian violence is their bag, baby. Our two "goals" are very different.
I was wondering what your guys' opinions were on the direction we ought to be taking over there. (besides not having started a silly war in the first place) Has anyone heard this above comment before? It really made me think. C'mon, be a part of the "in crowd"; what insights do you have[?]
