Okay, this will for sure show how sophmoric I still am. While cranking the elliptical the past few days, I've had MTV playing in the TV mounted in fron of me, but with the Pod still blaring away. But I kept seeing repeats of these two shows until I finally couldn't help myself but to toss the headphones and watch. Anyone else catch these?

First, Real World Australia. What's the deal? Did the producers just throw up their hands and say "Fuck it. It's soft porn anyway. Let's just hire a bunch of porn stars." Holy crap, these people are beautiful. But this one, Shauvon Torres...FUGGEDABOUTIT! And I do mean TIT. Jeezoman. Not to sound like a fuddy-dud, but these dudes are whores. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Then there's Newport Harbor. I gotta say, this is kinda clever on MTV's part, if only for the fact that I can't tell if this is a reality show that's heavily edited or a scripted show made to look like a reality show. Anyone know? If it's the latter, it's pretty dead-on to know the kids down in Newport, Balboa, Corona del Mar etc really speak and act...shallow, flighty, horny airheads.

Again, not to be a fuddy-dud, but shit I hope not too many kids are watching these shows. It's like the media is full-on assaulting this generation with how glorificent the material world is at the cost of anything else. Who's out there teaching them about hard work and achievement? It's kinda scary if this is a fundamental shift in perspectives about what people want, how they'll go about it, and what they feel they're entitled to. America could be in BIG trouble.

Now, back to the poll - do you prefer Shauvon's toddlers or the Newport teenieboppers? [}:)]

I'll take Shauvon's toddlers, Blir. Mrs DG dvr'd the first two episodes while I was on a business trip and I just watched them at 4am in the midst of a jet-lagged state. Massive, hot boobage. And it's cat fight city (or as one of the guys on the show called it, "mass vaginal insecurity"). Is it a train wreck? Yep. Does it represent everything that is wrong with TV? Yep. Will I watch more of it? I'll probably burn out after three more episoes, but I'll watch until then.
