the best steak dinner i ever had is the sirloin steak at Charleston's Restaurant

I just had the best steak of my LIFE in Buffalo, NY. E.B. Green's steakhouse. YUM!!!!! Voted one of the 10 best steak houses in the nation. The porterhouse was absolutely to die for and the t-bone and prime rib were damned fine too. MMmmmmmmm! [:p]

The two times I can remember having great steak was at some joint in Montana (location?) and Edmonton, Alberta (location?), both in 1972, when the family was on vacation to Edmonton... both times I didn't need a knief to cut the meat, just a fork--it was that tender... I've never been able to ever do that again, even at Artie Morton's of Chicago, Ruth's CHRIS, etc., etc.

Hey, Glok, that place in Montana- was it just outside of Glacier Park? There is a little hole in the wall dive in the middle of nowhere there. You walk in through saloon doors into a bar. If you don't know the steak house is there the cowboys won't tell you. You walk into the place, turn right, and walk through this ambiguous looking door. Suddenly you are in a swank little restaurant where a giant Native American with braids is wearing a tuxedo and serving you Perrier. Now THAT place has a GREAT steak, too! It takes about 45 minutes to cook because it's so freakin' huge, but more importantly, it melts in your mouth. Mmmmmm!

Best steak I ever had was a ribeye at a little place in Canadian, Texas, called The Cattle Exchange, about 7-8 years ago. Since then, every steak I eat falls so far short of the mark that ribeye set.

Yes, my uncle and cousins live there, as well as some other relatives—my dad's next oldest brother... back in 1959 it was easier to immigrate to Canada than the U.S. So my parents went there, and then left for California after two very cold winters... colder than any European winter they ever experienced! I don't blame them I guess, otherwise I'd be Canadian... [:D]

I'm not yanking your chain or shovel[;)] there... It is in the middle of nowhere... we were visiting Jasper National Park on the Alberta side, and Glacier National Park! Great place to visit!!!

I lived in Edmonton for nine very cold months - September-May - and not a single day warm enough to go out comfortably in a short-sleeve shirt. It didn't snow that much, but the snow that fell in September didn't melt until May. Then there was the week where the temperature never got above -35.

I've been back a couple of times, including this July. Mrs. scramjet is a U of A grad.

Yes, the parks are nice to visit. We go to Calgary, where my wife is from, once or twice a year.

There is a great little steakhouse in the Bronx, Jakes Steakhouse on Broadway that has a great T-bone and the Shell steak au Poivre was excellent. But my favorite steak was a Rib Eye at Ruth's Chris in Tarrytown, NY that was amazing.

I never understood that name. Ruth's Chris? But I hear it's great. We should all go out for steak!

Philly, I have only been to Ruth's Chris once, my sister and her husband took about 30 of us (brothers & sister, inlaws & outlaws) for my nephews college graduation. It was amazing. From what I have heard the restaurant is named for Ruth's son Chris, so if it was your place it would be Philly's Chris. Dumb,I know. Today I am going to the Blackstone Steak house in Melville, NY for lunch, my boss and I decided we deserve a day out, so I get to have steak today!!
