The Touch is the iPhone minus telephony capabilities so that does include all wifi features. With the new iPhone/Touch compatible iTunes, that means music and video browsing and buying wherever there's a LAN, as well as WWW browsing. Now that Starbucks is rolling out Apple product detection and services in it's LANs beginning next month, other franchises and institutions can't be all that far behind. I'm drooling for the Touch almost as much as I am for the iPhone but with me, it's all about space. I NEED MORE!

I was all about the space for a long time. Here is what I have found with the new iphone:
I listen to more music!!

I change it more frequently, it's not like I am away from my home computer for more than a week and 8GB is a ton of songs. Sure, I can't have some random song but I found out with my 60GB ipod, did I really use that or was it more of a comfort?

Maybe it's just me but the 8GB is more than enough and makes me change things more frequently. Plus, when I go to the gym or on a flight or something, one device does it all!

I'm a lazy bastard. I'm all about the playlist. Right now, I have some thirty playlists (and always creating more) in iTunes that I add to randomly as I listen to my library of music in my office. I just want to plug my pod in and not have to think about anything like sorting through the library. Takes too much time. I just want to have all my playlists in the office on the iPod. Plus, I use the video and that takes up a good amount of space. What can I say, old habits die hard even as I strap on the drool-bib whenever I see the iPhone. [V] But I do see myself getting frustrated with the eight gigs. Excuse me while I clean up this puddle.....

So when do you think obs is going to chime in? He almost makes me miss 2nu's pedantic Apple hating.

iPod Classic has better battery life than the Touch (larger screen and Wi-Fi sucks power)

40 hours of audio
7 hours of video

vs.

22 hours of audio
5 hours of video

Well I did it. The New Blirpod will be a black 160gigger. Holy crap, to think that'd be 8,000 of my original SeaCrate 20mb drives for my MacPlus. That would be about 5300 feet of drives lined up end to end...over a fooking mile in the palm of my hand! Bwaaaahahahahahah!!!

The real clincher...you never know when you'll need all those Foreigner "Cold As Ice" remixes.

Damn it all. I'm late to the party. And I was going to suggest that Blir get one to match his purse.

Hi all,

I'm with my friend Marvy on this one and waiting for the 80GB (yes, 80GB) iTouch. If I'm gonna do this, I might as well wait 'til Apple delivers a touchscreen with mass storage and playlist niceties as well as quicksearck/browsing functionality.

*turns green with envy*

I plan to replace my iMac after the first of the year. I also want the 24-inch version. I design on a 17-inch now--can't wait to play with a bigger screen. [:D]

As one of the remaining sexy technology grinches, I am only too happy to avoid this lemmingPod Love-In.

Blir - Make sure you get your special shorts with the pocket for your new player. That way, when you cruise restrooms at the MSP airport, you'll have a snappy answer when someone says "Is that an iPod in your pocket or are you here for anonymous sex?"
