Things I'm Too Lazy To Look Up - Part 2

Lexicon of Love and Pelican West are undeniably two classic new wave LPs. In Canada, Beauty Stab and Nick Heyward's North of A Miracle were released around the same time, and of course, neither LP had the same impact or commercial success as Lexicon of Love or Pelican West.

I remember reading an article in the entertainment section of our newspaper back then contrasting the two follow-up LP's. The article basically praised Nick Heyward for taking his sound further, to a more mature level, while at the same time trashing ABC for releasing a "rock" record.

There must have been interviews with ABC discussing their change in direction and the rationale behind Beauty Stab. IMO, Beauty Stab does have its moments, it is not a bad record, but WHAT WERE THEY THINKING AT THE TIME?

From uber-cool new wave to rock and then to dance (? I guess) with their third LP, ABC lost me with these 180 degree changes in style.

C'mon, it's almost 11 AM here and no one has slapped me or pissed me off all day. How unusual!

I'd prefer to get my adrenalin pumping from an eight 6 smack over a jolt of caffeine. Don't make me go drink the office sludge!

Let me help. I believe Beauty Stab was perhaps the greatest follow up album by an artist in the 80s, eclipsed only by The Color Field's release of Deception, clearly outdoing what had been done on Virgins And Philistines. [:D]

Could you dumb it down a shade?
