I have had it! I declare a squirrel jihad!
I came home and looked out back at my yard. A squirrel was sitting on my fence looking back at me. I went out to see about 15 to 20 holes in my perfect lawn. I chase him and go to pick up my kids only to return to 15 more holes. Now they already ruined my front lawn which is half dead. Next year I plan to get rid of the grass and do something else. I just give up. But now my back yard?! It is war! I took out my giant raccoon trap and I will start trapping tomorrow.

Squirrels are roaches with fur. You'll never catch enough of them to make a dent in their ranks.

Pave over the backyard in concrete...no squirrels, and no mowing.

That's true. Remove one, and another takes it's place.

It's a losing battle philly. They're burying everything they can find to store up for the winter. Unfortunately, if another squirrel sees one bury something - it will go dig it up and bury it somewhere else...and the pattern repats itself over & over & over.

I gave up on my squirrel war this year. I'm less stressed, they don't care...they never did. It was futile attempt on my part to control nature. And we all know what happens when you try to manipulate the natural world...giant man-eating rabbits.

They just keep replicating... so in tune with Motors deer pic, I give you:

Dude, it was Enzfan. I just made a very very innocent comment, not realizing I would get people so upset. For that, I'm deeply regretful...of course.

As for the squirrels, I'll send over my wife. She has an amazing knack for running them over with her car. After I saw her all swerving and shit, I got adamant that she not even flinch when she sees one - just drive straight through. Sure enough since then, she's been squashing them at a prodigious pace. But yeah Phil, I think this year's a bad one. We didn't have that many acorns last year, maybe because of the Gypsy Moths, but this year both and the squirrels are everywhere.

You're supposed to slam on the brakes as you hit them- it smears them to kingdom come. At least, I enjoy doing that to snakes. [:D]

OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost threw up!

One year,I caught one and just kicked the cage around and yelled at it while my family hid in embarrassment. Funny thing is when I let him go...I did not see another one all year! I could just see grandpa squirrel telling the kids about the crazy monster!

There are only so many water mocassins I'm willing to tolerate in my neighborhood (and that number is ZERO!). I have made a deal with them: if they stay in the pond I won't run them over with my car. Seems pretty damned fair to me! Maybe Philly should make the same deal with squirrels...[;)]
