New Wave Outpost Forum

Kinda silly question I guess given that it's a huge music town. But anyone have any ideas about what sort of music-related fun stuff there is in Nashville for a new wave type of guy? I have the opportunity to be out there for a few days.

I lived there for 3 1/2 years and was never aware of anything other than blues and country.Perhaps.times have changed since 2003 ? No new wave that I'm aware of.Might be wrong-maybe someone else will chime in.

I was there last year and all I found was country/blues and grunge/teen angst venues. I ended up going to a dance club that played 80s music- but it was Madonna and Springsteen (80s version) and Hewie Lewis and crap like that.

Of course, I had a fever of 102 and a sinus infection, so maybe I just wasn't trying hard enough. [xx(]

I went there for a DJ convention in 1984. The highlight of my trip was visiting the Barbara Mandrell museum where the centerpiece was the smashed-up, destroyed car that she crashed in & I think broke her back in the late 70's. You just can't find entertainment like that anywhere else!

I really loved Nashville, although I'm sure it's changed a lot in 23 years. It was clean, easy to get around & if you're into the campy crap - it's out there blaring at you like a giant pimple.

And my fondest memory of Nashville? The loves I lost...

OMG, I remember that. That was Nashville?! LOL. I in fact do love campy crap. I remember being bitterly disappointed that I couldn't find more campy crap when getting together in Vegas with some of the folks here. It's a real shame that cities are being regentrified and sttripped of their campy crap. Glad to hear that the mid-south is being spared such "advancements".

What is it with Nashville? I have a friend from there and I met her mother recently, who looks JUST LIKE those ladies in Wolverine's pic. And I mean every day- to the grocery store, to the bank, even staying at home and scrubbing the toilets. She will not leave the house unless her make up is 2 inches thick, her hair 8 inches tall, her nails 3 inches long, her eye lashes an inch long (is there a correlation between Nashville mentality and LENGTH?), all while wearing her gaudiest clothes to compliment her high voltage shoes!

It was utterly fascinating!

Yep--I'd much prefer campy Vegas to the current slutty Vegas.
