Oil that is. Black Gold. Texas Tea. That's about what it's trading at today. If we assume that a typical metro-area commuter often covers 20,000 miles a year, that's about 1124 gallons at the average 17.8mpg for American cars. If gas at about $70/barrel meant about $3/gal, then the current prices have a chance to drive gas up over $4/gal, probably towards $5/gal in some areas. Congrats to all those working grunts who just took about a $2000 pay cut.

Just buy your gas at WalMart, although it comes from China I think, it's still like 20 cents a gallon cheaper than most stations, which, by my calculations, is a savings of over $200! Plus, you can get groceries while you are there (again, pretty sure all the food is made in China) and save even more! It may help offset the $2000 cut.

What I don't get, is why gas is sometimes 20, 25 cents a gallon cheaper in different parts of the same city?

Wouldn't that be something if the Chinese ended up getting access to all that Iraqi oil...After all the money and lives we spent there.
