Well,I agree with Marie3 but to be a sport I pick the obvious in"Staying Alive" from the Bee Gees.My hand couldn,t turn the radio dial off fast enough when it was a current hit but I saw them do it live on a PBS station 6or7 years ago and I thought "holy shit thats just like radio version".I gave them new respect and I look back on that song with fondness now.

Good grief, do y'all know nothing of disco? I love the Ohio Players, but they were far removed from disco, and I find the idea of the BeeGee's being disco laughable.

May I recommend "The Disco Outpost"?

When I was in high school, it was rock vs. disco. You either liked rock or disco. And the disco kids were all called guidos or cooshines.

i'd either pick "i feel love"- because it predicts where music was going technologically (like new wave did), or "funky town"- which married dance beats and syntho weirdness into a new hybrid, which new wave also did.

but my favorite? probably "boogie wonderland"!!!

I like "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas because it's a realistic depiction of exactly what was going on in that era. If I recollect, everybody was Kung Fu Fighting. I remember those cats were fast as lightning. In fact it was a little bit frightning, but they fought with expert timing.

I guess on the commercial side I'd go with Good Times from Chic - nice orchestration, some cool non-typical touches like the bell ringing throughout & lyrics that catch the whole attitude for the late 70's crowd.

For non-commercial, I always like Chilly's version of For Your Love. It turned that overwrought crap into something that sounded really dark & sleazy. It's a great remake.
