Give me the good old days--we are too damn protective and sensitive about everything nowadays. Its making me ill.

I saw this too. It's hard to believe I survived a time when no kid wore helmets when they rode their bikes, when we'd each so much candy the day after halloween we'd almost get sick, and when dodgeball was allowed on elementary school campuses.

Ah yes dodge ball. That game that allows students to humiliate the weaker ones in front of everybody. That exact freedom screwed me up big time.

My son plays dodge ball on a regular basis in PE class. He's in 3rd grade. The sad part is that PE only happens every other day.

I have to add more. I totally have issues. We all know that. I am all screwed up because of how I was raised as a kid and growing up. And now I blow up whenever I think someone is going after me. But to turn a positive side, I coach basketball as well as baseball. These are sports that I can teach team playing. They learn from these sports. Dodge ball is a waste of time and does more harm than good. The coach just sits on the side and laughs as the mob rules. I teach sportsmanship to the kids on my teams and correct any bad behavior.

No wonder kids today are so messed up. The are coddled and babied--and they turn out to be little entitled shits.

In comparison to kids today, I must have been raised by wolves.

So my kids are entitled little shits? My kids are far from being coddled. They don't snack on fat free soy cubes, they don't wear padding so they can't get hurt. Every parent should raise their kid in a responsible way and teach them about life. But they don't. I do. And all the parents and teachers thank me because I make their jobs so much easier by reinforcing those good morals on my teams. My teams know sportsmanship not lets get the weak kid. When I see bad behavior I correct it. Sports can teach kids so many things. Dodge ball just breeds problems. The whole point is to get the weaker ones and try to hit them hard. I also have taught karate to kids. While martial arts are thought to be very violent they teach respect and non violence by building up a kids confidence (unlike dodge ball). I'm sorry, I'm getting too far into this only because it is far more serious than people think. Now let me go wrap my kids in bubble wrap so they will be safe, I better not forget the fat free soy cubes! My entitled little shits love them!

Dodgeball and kickball, I take some sort of demented pride in the fact I was always one of the first persons chosen when the two captains picked. I'm sure some of the boys felt embarassed because there was one girl who was always picked before some of them. She was a monster on the kickball playground.

I always aimed for the head when trying to throw someone out in kickaball although there was no sweeter reward than taking someones feet out from under them as they tried to make third.

On the flip side, i remember my bell being rung on more than a few occasions from a perfectly placed headshot [:(] What school did you say you went to Enz? [;)]

On Seasame Street, I always liked that chef that was at the top of the stairs with a platter of pastries and would fall to the bottom, usually after he said "TEN CHERRY PIES" [;)]
