I know most NWO-ers are artistic and creative, but surely there are a few math geeks out there lurking in the shadows[:)] Here is a little math video that one of my students shared with me today - hope someone enjoys it like I did!

Thanks for the link, Mathman! I'll share that one as well with my students. I especially like the idea of wearing the graphing calculator around one's neck[:)] - never thought of that! I'm sure we could share some interesting stories ...

The sad thing is that at one time I actually understood trig and calculus. I must have killed those brain cells over the past twenty years.

Sorry to disappoint you Sunzgem - but given the broad range of topics discussed in this thread what could possibly be the harm in a healthy little dose of math[;)] Sounds like you must have had a bad experience in Geometry - come on now, fess up!

That's sweet Brock. I have one son who is great at math, 3 who are excellent students but struggle in math. Having been a math geek myself, it is difficult for me to help them, I just don't understand why they don't understand! Probably because they didn't watch shows like that. They are too busy watching [i]The Hills[/i]. MTV has ruined this generation[}:)][;)][B)]

Very nice, Brock! Some of my best Saturday morning memories are from Schoolhouse Rock. "Lolly, lolly, lolly get your adverbs here", "I'm Just a Bill", "Conjunction Junction", "Unpack Your Adjectives", the list goes on and on. Great stuff! I agree with Coop's comment above!

Seriously, math was always my favorite subject in school and my absolute favorite subject of all time has to have been calculus. I especially loved Cal II when we went into double and triple integrations and I was in *heaven* doing all of those page-long problems. I even did math with a *pen*. But "Schoolhouse Rock" was definitely before my time, so I'm going to have to watch some of these videos. What I remember fondly was "Square One" on PBS, especially "Mathnet", done at a time when my only awareness of "Dragnet" was what my (war baby generation) parents had told me about it. But I still "got" it. I also remember all of those adult education telecourses PBS aired in the middle of the day, particularly (for this thread) the one by the Miami-Dade County Community College folks about algebra. I guess that's why I aced algebra years later.

Mathnet was awesome. I had completely forgotten about those until I saw your post.

Yay Mathnet remembering! And yay PBS!
