My 19 year old daughter has a lump about the size of half a grape on her breast near her armpit. She found it about a month ago but didn't tell me about it until last week because she was scared. Took her to the Dr. who sent her out for a sonogram. Long story short, she's going under the knife next Tuesday (out patient) to have it removed. All of the Dr.'s are sure it isn't cancerous...just a lump of fibrous tissue that will continue to grow if it isn't removed.

I have increased my kisses to her forehead because everybody knows that Dad kisses to the forehead are the best kind of medicine. To all of you wimmenfolk.....if you find a lump where there shouldn't be a lump, don't hesitate. Call your Dr. I guess that applies to all you menfolk too. If yer bag gotsa lump, call the Doc.

Glad to hear it wasn't cancer. Lumps are always scary. Good thing she had such a great Dad there for the medicinal kisses [;)]

I just found out my son has a leaky valve in his heart. They say it's not serious but OH MY GOD!! that was like a nightmare hearing that as I'm sure the lump news was for you Max. Anywho, glad to hear it wasnt cancer!

After my recent boobie scare I can empathize! And I can only imagine how much scarier it must be when it's one's child rather than oneself. Glad to hear that it's not anything serious. My friend had one of those things taken off her neck recently and it turned out just fine.

Dude my thoughts and prayers are with you. Fingers crossed and all that stuff. I'm glad to hear it is not the big c. Be a great dad, we are all behind you for support!

As a daughter, I have to say you're doing the right thing!

I had the same scare at 20. It's terrifying. I hope she gets through this with minimal trauma- and you too!

Success! No problems at all. It turned out to be the size of a robin's egg (instead of the half a grape he thought it was). She fine and I enjoyed the goofy headed comments she was making in recovery. She sounded like Dustin Hoffman as Mumbles in the Dick Tracy movie.

They're going to slice up the chunk of tissue and report back to us. Dr. says that he's sure it's just fiborous tissue and theres nothing to be concerned about.

What! All that trouble and nothing fun like teeth, hair or a lithopedion? Tell the doc to go back and keep looking until he finds something that would make Weird News Headlines!

Max, nice to know your daughter is safe. I usually advice my patients to have a regular self breast examination. YUP! This would be one preventive way to make any lump becoming serious. Self Breast Exam while taking a bath would be also appropriate. It's not done during Mentrual Period or when the Period is about to come since in many cases there would be some false positive results. Regards to your family.

I have a friend and her son (12 yo) said he had a lump on the roof of his mouth so they had it checked out. The removed it and did a biopsy.....you guessed it, it had hair and teeth in it. The Dr. said that it looked as though she was going to have twins but the egg didn't split as it should have. Her son thought it was the coolest thing and went around telling everyone that he ate his brother.

I got a bit of a scare today, but it was nowhere near what your daughter went through.

Several months ago I had to get an MRI on my head because the docs thought maybe I had a stroke. The only thing the MRI showed was a polyp in my sinus. Last week, I had surgery to straighten out my septum and remove the polyp. Today, the doc says that it wasn't a polyp--it was a schwannoma and that it was the size of a walnut. Hearing "oma" made my heart drop to my feet. But he said it was benign, and googling confirms I've got little to worry about.
