Pet peeves

Postby KYYX4ever » Sat Dec 01, 2007 5:19 am

While opening the case of a recent DVD rental, we discovered that the DVD was dirtied with what appeared to be smeared-food-something-or-the-other. Spaghetti, maybe ? Seriously, what the heck do people do to rental DVDs, and why ? Seems like we end up cleaning a lot of DVDs ourselves because of the gnarly condition they're in.

grrrr!!

What pet peeves have got you scratching your head lately? [?]

Heh, try getting a bootleg DVD from some degenerate on eBay. But yeah, a dirty DVD rental sucks.

Cell phone users are bad enough in cars . . . but when I went to my friend's funeral this week no fewer than THREE cellphones went off during the service. At a #%&$ing FUNERAL. It was all seniors too, not kids. You'd think after the first one people would check their phones to make sure the ringers were off, but maybe that was too technology-intense for these codgers.

Loud cell phone talkers do get me going. It is so clearly known that a loud cell talker is begging to be noticed as important. So do all these people not care or are they that stupid and think they are fooling us?
"hey man, I just made you 5 million dollars so if I can't get my way I will take my business elsewhere" Yeah, I bet nobody was even on the line. Nobody buys it.

Many of the sames peeves I've always had and ranted frequently about...

New Microwaves - after becoming instinctively one with the wattage of your old one, it burns out, leaving you with either cold filling or worse still, loss of product.

Gargantuan Sales Receipts - like the ones at Staples. I could buy a pen and the damned thing is as long as my arm and impossible to put in my wallet.

Weather Men - "We could be in for a nasty storm...stick around until later in the broadcast for full details." FUCK OFF! I've got the internets for that sorta thing. Stick around my ass.

Tube Top Squeezers - you know, people who squeeze toothpaste tubes from the top or really anywhere along it all willy-nilly. WTF?! Squeeze the thing neatly from the bottom so you retain paste consistency. Needless to say, my wife and I have seperate tubes - exact same brand, different tubes, mine protected by a line of death.

Blir, I demand the same conditions for MY toothpaste. I am comforted to know that you and your wife share this same practice as my husband and I.

Cars that don't stop at crosswalks for pedestrians.

Cashiers who don't say please and thank you.

customer service reps with accents so bad you can't understand a damned word out of their mouths (although it would be more precise to say that I am annoyed at the companies who hire these people rather than the reps themselves)

Unflushed toilets in public restrooms.[xx(]

Idiot kids who walk in the street instead of the sidewalk. It especially irritates me when they look at me like I'm in their way!!!![V]

The biggest pet peeve though - loud eaters. I want to reach across the table & rip their tongue out. Also, people who eat while talking on the phone with me...

eeeshh..

people who do crazy stuff while they're driving. Red light runners, stop sign runners, cellphones pasted to ears, putting on makeup, making crazy left turns or mergingnuttiness. The thing that gets me is are they doing it deliberately, or are they just clueless and unaware ?

Cashiers, representatives and service providers who, instead of thanking you for your business say, "no problem".

When did the lack of there being a problem replace expressing your heartfelt thanks and appreciation for my decision to engage in commerce with you and your company?

I know . . . WTF is with that? In my neighborhood there is a group of early a.m. joggers who run three abreast in the street and act like they have the right of way.

Awww - you and Blir are like two peas in a pod.

Mine:

Parking lot hogs...you know, the ones who park on the line in attempt to safeguard their car. - Don't worry dude, nobody is going to door ding your 7 year old Corolla. Particularly irksome at this time of year.

Shitty quality mp3s that are posted here. What are you, deaf? It sounds like shit, save everybody the time and effort...don't bother posting it.

Grannies who pay with quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. Making it worse is the fact that they depend on the mathematical skills of the totally disinterested person at the checkout.

And lastly:

Pretentious assholes who involve themselves in things they are not part of. Their sense of being able to add expertise, knowledge, levity or worth is inevitably a figment of their imagination.
