The USB turntable has worked out well for me so I figured I'd give this a try:

It sucks. I never could get it to work correctly. I did give up however, after I got the usb turntable which allowed the cassette deck to be plugged into it.

LOL, I wonder what the frequency response is on that cassette deck.
500 - 15000Hz, with a signal to noise ratio of 50dB? Heh heh.

I recently bought the USB <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Xitel-INport-Deluxe-Record-Computer/dp/B000HE7M3M/?tag=newwaveoutpos-20" target="new">INport by Xitel</a> and it's just what I needed (no Cars reference intended). I've been using it to archive my old mix tapes. This little baby is extremely portable and bypasses the need to plug into the sound card (where you'll likely pick-up stray e-noise from the computer fans, etc.). You'll still need a pre-amp for any turntable recording.

That Ion USB turntable was so lightweight that I thought the quality dubious ... still, good to hear that it delivers.
