Saturday Night Fever came out! 30 years man! Love it or hate it, it is a classic. Back in my clubbing days we used to have saturday night fever parties. How can you not laugh at that movie? "hey watch the hair"

Went with my parents and sister, waited in line for 2-3 hours in Westwood, near Christmas. And we got the album the day it was released and played all four sides constantly--had the poster of the Bee Gees in my room. Thirty years is not distant enough for me to want to be away from that pop culture atmosphere. Although Boogie Nights did add perspective.

Is it acceptable to admit that I've never seen it nor do I own the soundtrack. I was raised anti-disco and for the most part remain prejudiced.

It's acceptable to me abs. I was the kid who wrote "Disco Sucks" on all the desk in Jr. High. I've never seen SNF or owned (or even listened to) the soundtrack. And I hate the Bee Gees.

That is so old school!!! I remember writing "Disco Sux." Semantics, I suppose. [;)]

However, SNF is a disturbing movie. Especially the date rape scene in the back of the old car. These days, that would have drawn a huge reaction from the sign carriers.

I still HATE the soundtrack.

Now, SNF II was pure cinematic ecstasy. In a NOT way.

[/quote]Funny, I just remembered I was the kid who wrote "Disco is static between 2 Rock stations". But Disco sucks is just as good.

I agree the movie sucks ass. That is what makes it a classic. For those of you lucky enough to live in Brooklyn, it was all about Brooklyn. Tony....where do I start? In the 70's and 80's those guidos were everywhere. I hate guidos. Those guys should have got an academy award because they played them perfect. It was almost like cavemen with slick hair walked the streets. And they talk just like that...duh duh whah? Me and my friends would laugh like crazy because we lived through that era.

I thought and still think that Saturday Night Fever was a great film. It was well acted with interesting characters with a good mix of humor and tragedy. The soundtrack is one of the best movie soundtracks of all time. The movie was anti-Puerto Rican and me being Puerto Rican kind of made me a bit uncomfortable but the premise was sort of necessary to the outcome of the film.

I still watch it whenever it comes on. I think I had the soundtrack as well.

Funny about it being anti puerto rican. Truth is that Brooklyn is very boriqua friendly. I guess they just had to pick a group to be the bad guys. The movie did hit it on the head with so many points. That part when they are all eating dinner in the house! That is Brooklyn.

Proud to say I never saw it as well, hated the soundtrack, owned a Disco sucks t-shirt and taunted the guidos waiting to get inside Bogarts disco by driving and blasting Zeppelin out the windows. Yeah--maybe inmmature--but--who the Hell cares???[:D]
