already watched part of it on a different site. The sound was about 5 seconds off. From what I saw though I'll deffinately go see it in the theatres [;)]

It would be nice if any of the movie adaptations would try to stick to the novels story instead of creating another 28 Days Later.

The Omega Man is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi movies, so naturally I can't wait to see this version. I'm not sure Will Smith is the next Chuck Heston (or Vincent Price), but I'll withhold judgment until I see it. But Hutter's right - none of the movie versions, except maybe the first, tried to be at all true to the book. Thanks for the link.

I liked both versions, although I thought Vincent Price's was much darker & better. I saw Omega Man when I was a kid & liked it, but I don't think I could sit through it today - can't stand watching Charleton Heston.

I love post-apocalypse movies & this is one of my favorite stories. I'll see it eventually.

The saddest thing about I Am Legend is that, once upon a time (around 1957) Hammer Films, the great folks that brought us all those kick-ass Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee monster flicks, had the rights to do an adaptation of the book, and hired the books author to write the screenplay. All the references to the plague victims being genuine vampires would have been left intact (unlike nearly every other adaptation which transformed them into zombie-things, rage victims or cloak wearing albinos. Yech.). Unfortunately the british film board made it clear that ANY adaptation of the book wouldn't get past their censor board. ASSHOLES.

Couldn't you see Peter Cushing playing Neville? Gawd, that would have been a genuine horror classic. Maybe Lee as Ben Cortman. Drat drat drat. What should have been.

Oh, there's another shitty "I Am Legend" adaptation floating around called "I Am Omega". Once again, the vampires from the book are changed into some generic zombie-things. Pass on it.

For post apocalyptic zombies I prefer "Night of the Comet" and Holy Crap! I see it was finally released on dvd! Yay!!!!!!!!!

That was a zombie film? The only zombies in it was a black hobo and a kid.

I feel your pain Hutter.
Being the movie aficionado that I am, I gave up on criticizing what films could or should have been based on the novels they were derived from a long time ago.

The whole Peter Cushing thing would have been great. I am Legend really is a great movie though very well done and very entertaining.
