Valentine's Day Budget: Gift I'm Giving This Year

Postby glokstadt » Tue Feb 12, 2008 5:16 pm

With the day before the supposed day of love in America--how much or what are you getting your significant other???

So if your thinking it's a made-up day, so I'm buying nothing to spending your weekly paycheck plus on some jewlery, etc.

Don't have a girlfriend, but if I did I'd send her flowers and gifts, have a fancy dinner whenever I felt like it, regardless of occasion. I don't mean to excessively shower her with gifts and attention (too much of a good thing spoils it all), but just enough to still make each instance significant and memorable. I guess the closest right now would be buying tickets to see Wicked with a girl friend of mine. I woulda gotten a ticket to see the show anyway, though, but she's one of the few people I like[}:)]

Good point!
They should move that steak and blowjob day to before Valentine's Day. It would go a long way towards answering the poll question.
Hell...I don't even mind skipping the steak!

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Mrs. Scram & I agreed to sit this one out. We were planning a near-Valentine's ski & dinner getaway at Sundance for this Saturday, but my Mom backed out of taking the kids at the last minute. We're going next week, though and calling it our Valentine's present to each other.

I guess we're weird. We don't do anything special on V-Day.

This is about as much of a mention as it'll get today:
5:45 this morning and the alarm goes off.
Mr BMG throws his 800-pound leg across my left knee.
Me: "Get the hell off me!"
Mr BMG rolls away and takes all the covers.
Me: "And give me back the damn blanket!"
Mr BMG: "Happy Valentine's Day, to you, too."

My birthday is pretty close to V-Day, so I guess that's part of the reason we don't do anything. We save our $$$ and do something then.

Plus, both of us sort of think V-Day is silly. We're affectionate every day to the point of making people gag. After 17 years, we still hold hands in public and say/text "I love you" several times a day. No need for a special day. (Y'all can throw up now).

I filled Mrs Roq's office with balloons overnight so she had a nice surprise in the morning. I also sent some roses and then I'll take her out for a nice dinner. For some reason she seems to like that sort of thing.

Some girls get flowers and chocolates, I had surgery on my foot today. It was a terribly romantic experience. The anesthesiologist said, "Here, let me get your sedation started." The nurses made sure I was under extra warm blankets. My doctor showed me that he has somewhat of a personality. Seriously, though, Mr. H. (and the kiddos) have been great waiting on me hand and foot, literally! And this Valentine's gift will last for quite a few days. I'm loving it!

That is exactly how my day started too! We have the same sentiments regarding Valentine's Day. So we will spend it watching #1 son's hockey game tonight, come home get everyone to bed (they're all old enough to stay home alone), and then sneak out for an hour or so for some beer and wings. After 28 years that's all I ask. Also, my birthday is just a few weeks away so we'll (or he'll) do something then.

I got tix for a show next month, so they were considerably cheaper, and they were near the centre aisle in orchestra seating[}:)]
