Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame and New Wave

Was looking at the list of inductees into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame that were "new wave" or at some point were considered "new wavish". They include Bowie, Ramones, Talking Heads, The Clash, Elvis Costello And The Attractions, U2, Sex Pistols, Blondie, and REM. Then I starting thinking of artists or persons on the outside looking in that may have a shot down the road. Performers: The Cars, Duran Duran, and Devo. If not as performers certainly in the early influence category: Kraftwerk. As non performers: Giorgio Moroder and Trevor Horn. Any others you think may eventually have a realistic chance at making it?

The Smiths really need to be in there.

That Johnny Marr collaborated with New Order's Bernard Sumner is proof positive that they were pillars of musical genius if I can invoke the whole "birds of a feather" rule.

Not that he will ever make it but Vince Clarke should get at least a little consideration.

Realistic chance: SONIC YOUTH, The Cure

No chance but are deserving: The Fall, The Church

Is Lou Reed in? If not, he should have been in before any of the others listed.

<p align="justify">By the same token, Martin L. Gore and Depeche Mode.

David Sylvian/Japan will never make it, but Roxy Music should definitely be in the Hall Of Fame.

ive wondered about before myself, and its hard for me to think of many that i can picture them inducting.theres plenty i think are deserving but by there rules you have to be able to make a good case for a bands influence on future generations you have to have some decent longevity.
im sure the cars will get in.but i cant think of any others of the top of my head other then the few that are already in.
i think the sad thing is people seldom seem to give new wave bands any credit for musical ability.but the glam metal bands of the mid late 80s will probably start getting in soon and people will be very impressed at what a bunch of good guitarists those bands have.
and thats sad because there were some very skilled talented and original guitarists in new wave.

definately the smiths the replacements should be in some day.
i think duran duran should surely get in but i worry they never will.
but after madonna getting in this year i have no idea anymore.i just think she is far over rated.

heres the things that get me, my absolute favorite band is THE SOUND.
i think adrian borland was a genius and one of the most absolute underrated bands of the entire 80s.but i know they will never get in,and im not certain that anyone that has ever gotten in would even know who the sound are.
