I've always noticed differing behaviors with things like elevators for example. You're there on a semi-crowded elevator, the doors open, some white business woman (yes I'm stereotyping) is standing there, she goes "Whoa" and decides to wait for thenext elevator. Thing is, it's not even that crowded. You take someone from another country or culture, and they'll pile in with not only themselves but their whole family, luggage, dogs, and chickens as well. It's pretty uncanny.

that is so true. Folks from other parts of the world have totally different concepts of personal space than we do. In Europe, they crowd more closely together in lines. In Egypt, those buses would get packed, then people would hop on to its exterior, hanging on to the bumpers, running boards, railings, popped out windows, etc. In other parts of Africa, you're right...people would load on their livestock, their children, their elderly relatives, their belongings, and then hijinks would ensue when the bus would get going again and it was all tilted toward one side ! I have lots of these types of stories; they are some of my favorite travelling memories.
