Spring Cleaning

It is that time once again. I try to toss a ton of stuff because I want to simplify my life in any way I can. I went into my work shed to find all my old unused tools starting to rust. I spent the last 3 days moving all my good tools into the basement and putting them in order, then getting rid of the old. Usually once a year I look at all my shit and see what I never use and then toss or give it away.

<p align="justify">It's the Zen thing to do, phil. I was doing the same thing yesterday. I have a tendency of keeping the original boxes for some of the electronics I buy and they clutter my closet space. This time, I just flattened all of them and placed them in the recycle bin. Now I have more space for my clothes (which I should also start clearing out)[}:)]

Spent much of yesterday cleaning out the garage.
Hopefully I will get to my closet, everything I haven't worn in a year gets sent to good will.

How weird, I'm doing the same thing. It must be the good weather. I tend to accumulate tons of junk and paper. I cleaned out my desk and a bunch of cabinets tonight. I'm going to attack the rest of the house throughout the week.

Why do I hang onto old candles that have warped? Why did I have a 15 year old Mac hidden away on my porch? Why did I have 30 diskettes? Why do I have old greeting cards from people I don't like any more?

It's all gone now!

Exactly, why do I have hydro and gas bills from 1987? Am I just trying to piss myself off? I laughed when my mother said my father had bills from 1956! Why do have have the first tooth my dog lost? WTF is that? She's been dead for 4 years. And was 16 when we put her down. I threw away my sons cast from his broken leg 8 years ago. Ski boots from 1987 that my husband said I had to have since we were living in the Laurentians. Winter is too cold for me so I don't even ski. Tupperware!!! Need I say more? Add to that assorted chachki's gleaned from years of in-law & staff Christmas gifts. Have I not known these people long enough that they should know what I like?

Holy Criznap!

***I did use the towel my mother-in-law gave me this year**

Well '82, you must be a pack rat [:0] I think people are either keepers or tossers ... I'm a tosser - I throw stuff away (except for my MUSIC, the sentimental and kid memories stuff) rather than collect it. If I haven't seen it/worn it/used it in a year it's gone. Now Mr. H. is a different story ... if he's missing anything he immediately hunts me down and accuses me of throwing it away ...

packrat here !

however, over the last year or so, I've finally begun jettisoning some of the "stuff" that has just gotten to be TOO MUCH. I ned more practice !

I found my stash of old 80's wrap-around sunglasses in my cleaning frenzy last night. I'm keeping them & I'm probably going to wear them again.

There is a benefit to digging through old drawers!

Oh and keep that bird feeder!

Now on a negative note: when we die...people go through all our stuff and 99% of what we collected over our lives ends up in the garbage. I just hope my kids keep all my music and all my pictures.

Tomorrow is my day to clean out the closets, like Marie anything that hasn't been worn in the last year either goes to Good Will or into the garbage.
