So I am in the middle of a divorce.... MY choice.... and I am trying to compile some great break-up songs to keep this positive energy flowing. Ha ha!
Anyone have any good suggestions?

Congratulations!
I know it doesn't fit your situation, but I've always loved Tonio K's "H.A.T.R.E.D"
Lyrics at the bottom of this page:

Motors, Thanks for the congrats. I am free at last free at last....!!!
BUT that song would be about hating ME, not the other way around.
I packed MY bags, I cleaned the floor, watch me walkin'.... walkin' out the door!
LOL

Per Toyah's thread under General New Wave...Wayne County's "Fuck Off"?
But irony and cheekiness might work better, like Morrissey's "You Have Killed Me" or "Suedehead". Danger though is that he could come back with "Bigmouth Strikes Again". [:o)]

If that weren't so damned funny I'd have to be offended.... Hmmmm, maybe a little true, too?
Nah......
LMAO!
Thanks, Blir! (I think...)

How about "Don't Think Twice" ... not the Dylan version, but the highly superior Mike Ness cover?

The Break Up Song- Greg Kihn
I Fall To Pieces- Patsy Cline
I Wanna Be Around- Tony Bennett
Love Hurts- Nazareth
And of course, the immortal Nilson classic:
You're Breakin' My Heart- Harry Nilsson
You're breakin' my heart
You're tearin' it apart
So fuck you
All I want to do
Is have a good time
Now I'm blue
You wanna boogaloo
Run down to Tramps
Have a dance or two--ooh!
You're breaking my heart
You're tearin' it apart
But fuck you
You're breakin' my heart
You're tearin' it apart
Ooh!--ooh!--
You stepped on my ass
You're breaking my glasses too
You wanna drive my car
Buy a lot of stuff
I've had enough
Of you--ooh!
I'm goin' insane
There's no one to blame
So fuck you
You've gotta have your way
There's nothin' left to say
There's nothin' left to do--ooh!
You're breakin' my heart
You're tearin' it apart
So fuck you
You've gotta have your way
There's nothin' left to say
There's nothin' left to do--ooh!
You're breakin' my heart
You're tearin' it apart
But I love you

<p align="justify">The problem is that the majority of break-up songs are from a guy's perspective. I was thinkin' "Ohshit!" by The Buzzcocks. God damn, I love that song[}:)]

you guys (and gals), thank you so much for the suggestions. I have been listening to a lot of music lately- after all, that's what you do when you're in a particularly heightened emotional state. The problem is that most songs are about being burned, or unrequited love, or sorrow. I'm not feeling that way. I need victory songs, songs of renewal, songs of joy at a new lease on life.
You're suggestions are GREAT, so keep them coming! I can't wait to make this mix!
