Genital Herpes

I don't know about you guys, but I am almost speechless at all the new tv adverts for Valtrex. Picture this: a man and a woman holding hands at the breakfast table. They both turn to each other and smile while giggling. Then she says in a sexy voice I have genital herpes.......then the man smiles and kisses her then says and I don't. Are you fucking kidding me? If my girl said she had genital herpes, while the camera panned around the room looking for me....you would hear the tires squealing from my car pealing out of the driveway and down the street.

I don't know...I'm probably weird, but I spend my work days talking about STDs. I don't see it as glamourizing the disease at all. It's about promoting a product that can change an infected persons life.
Since there are 45 million people out there (and no doubt probably more than one or two people on these boards,) with genital herpes, and 20 million new cases each year - I suspect most of you would like to know your partenr is doing something to minimize your risk.
I admit that I would think twice if I began dating someone & they said "oh by the way..." But I think there are probably a big number of people unaware of their infection until it's too late. It's the social worker in me, I can't help it.

I lurk at another board and there was a recent discussion there about whether or not to tell your partner(s) if you have genital herpes. I nearly flipped when all these people basically said that it's so common, it's no big deal and not something you have to disclose upfront.

Its so strange! I have only been with you and all of a sudden I am getting these red sores on my tool. Thank God I got married and soon after went celibate!
