Boring story......

I work at a plastics manufacturing plant (we make the backs of Sony tv sets, a line of Martha Stewart stuff, shopping carts....etc.)

Ikea, the Swedish furniture people came over to check us out for future work. The meetings were awkward due to the language differences and things were going slowly. We went out to my office where I happened to have music playing through my computer. I had Kraftwerk, Telex, Komputer, Karl Bartos, Kraftwelt, Yello and a bunch of other electronic bands on a mix playlist. One of the Ikea people heard what was playing before I turned it down and asked me to let it play. Next thing I know, we're talking about music and the mood lightened up a bit. The Ikea people started laughing and the general atmosphere became relaxed.

Long story short....we got the contract (potentially millions of dollars). The music actually helped us get the contract. I'm expecting a decent raise because of this.....we'll see.

I told you it was boring.

Hey, money is never boring! The title of this thread should have been:

Kraftwerk Got Me A Raise! [:D]

NOT EVEN! That totally rocks!!! I love stories like this.

Similar thing when speaking to a guy at Johns Hopkins about putting on a discussion series down there. He didn't seem completely bought in. I saw a poster on his bulletin board about upcoming events at a club, Rams Head On Stage out in Annapolis. I was like "Cool". He shows me his email update with Amos Lee playing there later on. I mention that I've seen him and that, oh by the way, the answer to the trivia question on his email is "The Nerves". The question was "In 1976 Peter Case teamed up with Jack lee and Paul Collins to form what early new wave band?" OMG!

Just think if you would have had ABBA playing instead, maybe they offer you a vice presidency of some division in their company. [:)]

It would only have been a better story if you got a hummer from a hot Swedish IKEA babe (with Das Model as background music)![}:)]

LOL!

Congrats Max, way to go! Hope you get a hefty raise, and maybe the company can give you an expense account for more "electronic" CDs... [:)]
