This is obviously someone's personal, eclectic song list. The next time I hear these will be the first time.

Very subjective. How does one decide that The Jimi Hendrix Experience "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" should be at #12 but "Red House", "All Along The Watchtower", "Hey Joe", "Foxey Lady", "Bold As Love" and "Fire" don't make the list?

Or that The Stones "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and "Brown Sugar" rank here but other classics including "Satisfaction" (probably THE most recognized guitar riff in history) don't?

Sooo... Rolling Stone has now decided to make playing practical jokes their goal.

That's good because the whole music thing hasn't been working out for them too well lately.

I know they mentioned that their criteria was subjective, but I thought that their list really sucked. They obviously limited the list to either popular rock, or critically/historically acclaimed rock.

I nearly gagged when I read U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name" at number 28. What a joke!

Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain" is recognized by critics as one of the greatest acid-soaked epic guitar solos ever. Not my favorite song of theirs, but I appreciate the guitar work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP1ZGOI7M2I

My favorite guitar band is probably the Danish band Dizzy Mizz Lizzy from back in the 90's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxXICq153pM Those guys were off the hook. In any case, imho you could easily replace 40% of that list with superior selections.

Lots of undeserving crap on that list (although King Crimson and Maggot Brain definitely belong). Bo Diddley must be rolling over in his grave already.
