In the spirit of Scram's 70's Ballads thread, I think it's time to fess up on our adoration of Eighties Cheese. I'll start with:

Let's Stay Together - Tina Turner (Al Green cover, but I love her version)

"Goodbye To You"- Scandal.

I know, I'm not SUPPOSED to like it. But I do.

Maybe it's that catchy bassline.

Also if "Your Love" by The Outfield or "Hold On Loosely" by 38 Special come on the radio I aint leaving the car until they are finished.

I got suckered into this stuff for about a year by an extremely hot girl. Almost completely stopped listening to new wave for about six months. But she was completely out of my league, and when in Rome, I was going to do as the Romans. [B)]

<p align="justify">APP was awersome. "Don't Answer Me" is one of my top favourite songs. It's partially responsible for me collecting music.

I have a big soft spot for Hall & Oates-- from [i]Voices[/i] through [i]Big Bam Boom[/i]. Daryl Hall did his thing with Elvis Costello during this period. Show of hands: who here knows who wrote Paul Young's "Everytime You Go Away"?

This thread just made me realize why I'm now lactose intolerant!

Alan Parsons Project are one of the most innovative groups ever. They released several LP's that stand the test of time and are, in my opinion, far far superior to many new wave releases of the late 70's and early 80s. I Robot, Eve, Eye In The Sky.........these three releases would be in my collection before 90% of any new wave I own. Nothing cheesy about this group in my opinion.

<p align="justify">I have a Paul Young cd of his cover songs, which, coincidentally, includes a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart"[}:)] Being acquainted with Hall & Oates's music, you probably also know that "Everytime You Go Away" is also one of their songs[}:)][}:)] I like their late 70s and early 80s stuff. I wouldn't even classify it as cheeze, unless you bring up the music videos[}:)]

I still can't listen to most cheesy '80's stuff unless you would call Kajagoogoo cheesy (which, I guess I would). However, "Maneater" by Hall & Oates isn't bad and I actually have "Vogue" by Madonna on my iPod...and not in error!


We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Randy Van Warmer - Just When I Needed You Most

Incidentaly, all his LP's finally were released on CD I believe earlier this year. I remember that song most from hearing it in Zapped with Scott Baio, Heather Thomas and that kid from Eight Is Enough. I watched Zapped the other night since it was recently released on DVD, good but not as good as I remembered, but still worth picking up for the classic 80s teen movie genre.
