Certainly the best Batman movie ever done and one of the top superhero flicks ever filmed.

VERY dark--not quite to the level of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, but close.

Ledger is devestating at the Joker--genuinely creepy. His biggest crime here is stealing every scene from Bale.

Better action than Batman Begins, although some of the bat-gadgets were approaching James Bond level ridiculousness, and apparently the Joker has access to an endless supply of gasoline filled barrels.

Many subplots. I think the movie could have been about 25 minutes shorter and it would have been better

Still overall IMO a riveting film and a great thriller.

It didnt play like a comic book movie at all. If I were to compare the style, it seems more like the Bourne movies and Heat. I dont think there really was any CGI involved with the exception of maybe the copter crash. As for how the Joker acts the way it is, they mentioned he was a schiztso but Im not too sure of his backstory because he mentioned two things that contradicts himself. First was how his father abused him and gave him the scars near his mouth but then again he mentions some wife he had and how he scared up his whole face to blend in with her after her accident

I ask because in the comic he falls into a vat of acid and ends up like that.

In the comics the acid permenently changes his face chalk white and his hair green. In the movie it's just makeup, although he has some facial scars that give him a creepy "grin"


I've read a lot of comparisons to "Heat" (a terrific movie in its own right) which I think is accurate, but several comic book series in the last two decades I think have achived that fast-pased level of suspense and thrills.

I liked it, however, not as much as the last one. I felt bad for not thinking it's the greatest movie ever.

Well it is true that she fell into a vat of acid in her garage as a child. That is what melted her face.

I friggin loved it! Very much like Heat. Ledger should get all the awards. This movie was great! 5 stars!

I see where Batman was arrested today in London for assaulting his mother and sister. What a douche.

i suppose & also hope that his great performance in this movie will finally silence all those , who formerly criticized heath ledger & put him down even right after his death - also in this forum !
he's proven one final time , what an outstanding actor he was & i sincerely hope that he'll win an oscar posthumous next year for his role as the joker in "the dark knight" !

As said before just another celebrity that decided to deal with reality through pharamceuticals and pays the ultimate price for it.

I'd hardly call children or those concerned about them "wussies" for saying that the The Dark Knight is intended for mature audiences. It is. That said, I wholeheartedly agree with NuWaveRx when he says it was the best Batman movie ever done. Having read Frank Miller's Batman years ago (a steroidal re-imagining of Bob Kane's original Batman), I think THIS is how a Batman film should be done and it's a great sequel to Batman Begins (the very close second best Batman flick ever produced). The Heat comparisons (one of my favorite movies with two of my favorite actors) are on point, with particular regard to cinematography. Ledger was absolutely stunning as the Joker. It wasn't hard to imagine him as the younger Jack Nicholson Joker in the first Michael Keaton Batman with the way he spoke his lines. Fantastic!

Complex, interwoven relationships between deep, complicated characters portrayed by some of my favorite actors - Christian Bale (the best actor to play the Dark Knight), Gary Oldman (loved him in True Romance, Motors!), Morgan [i]Who Would Have Been A Better Jedi Knight Than Sam Jackson[/i] Freeman and MIchael [i]I Am An Oscar Winner With Enough Humility to Take On A Supporting Role[/i] Cain give the movie enormous substance. I look forward to seeing newer interpretations of the Penguin, the Riddler, et. al. in this vein. Major continuity question: if this is a prequel to the Batman flicks of the nineties, how could Harvey Dent be dead? By the way, I could never dismiss Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face. He lent a particular pathos to the character that Eckhart did not. Then again this was a younger, freshly driven mad Two-Face so he.....ok, I digress.

Anyway, I liked it. Even at two and a half hours [:o)]

I totally loved it. I really liked the reality of it as apposed to the corny old movies. If a criminal is hell bent on destroying the city......why build a giant duck to hide your men in?(penguin) Why use guns with pop signs and flowers that squirt acid? This one was more close to reality.

I will add that Batman and Robin with George Clooney was by far the worst of all batman movies. Mr. Freeze was a total joke, poison ivy was so stupid, and the acting totally sucked. It was on the other day and I could not get through 5 minutes of it. Party scene: everyone in a neon covered gym and all stops. Look...a dancing gorilla! Now lets all just stare. Oh...she is really a woman dressed as a gorilla...now dressed in leaves. Oh she is spraying something at us.....now we all love her.... WHO THE FUCK gave this shit the ok?
