White trash neighbors

I live on a quiet suburban street, well, it used to be anyway. Some white trash moved in many years ago but they’re tolerable to some point. The teenage boy thinks that he is a “crip” and has set fire to two garages over the past 5 years. The younger sister (who I thought was ok) has turned into a little tramp that gives out hand jobs to the neighborhood boys (or so I’m told).

Like I said, they were tolerable up until a new batch of white trash moved in next door to them. This new family (I use that term loosely) consists of a potbellied father who never seems to wear a shirt, a mother who I have seen maybe 2-3 times over the last year, a 14 year old daughter who is dating a 24 year old guy, a 4 year old boy (who is a spitting image of his father) who seems to think that his yard is a toilet. I have seen him shitting on the sidewalk. Seriously….shitting on the sidewalk. Last week I saw him hang out of the second story window….if he would have fallen his neck would have been broke and I don’t want to have to deal with that. He also likes to run out in the road without looking for cars. Every time I hear wheels screeching, my heart starts to pound. There’s also a male in his mid 20’s who lives there with his 7 month old baby girl. The baby is extremely small for a 7 month so there might be something wrong with her (I hope not). This guy has maybe 3 teeth in his head and wants to be my best friend (sorry man….position is already filled). I can’t go out on my front porch without ol’ toothless coming over to “shoot the breeze”.

Ever since this new family arrived, the other family has gotten progressively worse. The “crip” has now thrown a pair of shoes over the telephone wire in front of his house signifying that he either is selling drugs or he murdered someone and at 1:30 this morning, the 2 girls (aged 13 and 14) were caught by the police running around the neighborhood naked and drunk. Naked and drunk….what the hell.

I’ve considered moving but I decided against it because I have been there for almost 20 years so, it’s time for them to go. My neighborhood consist of mostly older people who rely on me to do things for them. I have fixed televisions for Mrs. Cisco (she keeps sitting on her remote switching it to video), chased a bat out of her living room, bandaged her up and sent her to the ER when she nearly hacked her finger off, helped Mrs. Scala when her husband (all 300lbs. of him) fell in the bathroom and sliced his head open, took her autistic grandson back to her house when he came up missing. He walked in my front door one day and stared at my ceiling fan. I cut their grass in the summer time and shovel their drives in the winter so I can’t leave these people.

So, should I be a prick and contact childrens services and the landlords of the inbreds? Like I said, the one boy has set fire to 2 garages and I really don’t want to wake up to the smell of a burning house or deal with a broken neck on a 4 year old or see naked and drunk kids running around the neighborhood.

I don't think calling CPS is "being a prick" if you have reason to believe there's abuse or neglect.

Trashy neighbors are hard. Makes my neighborhood busybody, who's your typical bossy nanny-state liberal (yet stunningly racist), um, pale, in comparison.

Sounds like the neighborhood is taking a massive turn for the worse. And I thought my condo complex was bad![xx(]

It might hit too close to home, but have a good laugh over this one:

That story sounds nightmare like.

I fortunately live in an area of San Diego, that even though it's still the city, is not plagued in my immediate 3 block area with anything too abysmal.

However, one shoe could drop, and then the other shoe could drop at any time, I am well aware.

two quick white trash neighbor stories from my past 'apartment' years.

1)San Diego, 1997
Single mother with screaming child [:0]living beneath me in paper thin complex. Fisherman boyfriend would be gone for three months and then return to bang her (literally) ALL NIGHT,[:0][:p][:0][:p] not only was my resentment for being kept up all night fever pitched, but my own apparent sexual inadequacies at not being able to sustain love making for 5 hours had a light shone on them anytime I had a woman over.

2)Oceanside, CA (those of you who know, know) 1992
Newlywed 18 year olds; Deaf wife and semi mentally challenged (I say 'retarded') neighbors right next door - fought (and I mean blood)[B)] every night. The retard beat his lovely (yeah right) pit bull too. would hold pit bull fights in apartment courtyard. He would be wanting to hang out with me all the time. I delicately tried to get out of these situations the best I could --- It was like trying to move a porcupine slowly away from you without getting gouged.

I found comfort in a Jim Beam bottle in both instances.

I want to live where Coop lives. looks like the worst thing is a pack of coyotes. I don't think they "give out hand jobs"[;)]

Bummer, man. Calling the landlord helps, and calling CYFD helps a LOT if there is indeed something bad going on.

We have a quiet neighbourhood, mostly homeowners with a couple of renters here and there. Several years ago, a registered sex offender and his family moved in across the street from us (as renters). It seemed like he was trying to get his life together; he had a steady job and kept the place fairly neat. There was a sad-looking wife who always shuffled around, and a lot of bored kids running around, but nothing egregious. He ended up getting popped for DWI and went to jail/prison for a while. During his absence, that place got crazy. Kids started damaging things, you could hear loud arguing, all sorts of strange-looking people came and went, who knows who was living there, it was bizarre and like watching a bad TV show. Another one of our neighbours, a cool middle-aged guy who's lived there his entire life, was constantly calling the landlord, the cops, CYFD, etc. The sex offender got out of jail/prison and suddenly things got cleaned up and quieted down, but they got evicted anyway. Altho things didn't get as bad here as what you are describing, it was hairy, and I wanted to say that calling the appropriate folks does help. Are these families renters or homeowners ?

I'd move.

We lived next to white trash in our first home. After a year and a half we sold the house. (the first day on the market I might add).
That started a trend of people selling their home on the block. Funny, a few years ago I had a real estate come to my house to give me a home value. She said she was selling a home on the same block that we used to live on and it happened to be my old house. She says to me, "do you know the neighbors are crazy"? Yes, I do. The house is a gold mine for any real estate agent. It gets sold every couple of years.

Sorry to hear that, Max. I live in what what you would call a less-than-posh area, but aside from the very occasional late night shoutfest, I don't have to put up with anything that bad! [:0]

Ditto that. I think they have to at least send someone out to investigate. Even if nothing happens, at least they will know that someone is watching and willing to act, so maybe, *MAYBE* they will mind the P's and Q's. And keep their hands to themselves.

Heya Max. Be a prick. Do what you have to do. You may be a prick to this one "family" but you'd be doing the whole neighborhood a favor.

[/quote]That's funny, sad but funny. There might be some kind of twisted movie script in that story or at least a Twilight Zone episode.

Not as big of a deal as Max but I have a neighbor up the street that leave their trash barrels in front of their houses all the time. Now the house beside them is doing the same thing. How fuckin' lazy can you get.I know it's sounds like a petty complaint but it sure does look like shit.

Our next door neighbors steal our trash can at least once a week. After trash pick up on Tuesday and Fridays, on at least one of those days, we'll go outside and our dark blue trash can will be missing. Their light blue one is in its place. The next morning, our trash can is sitting in our driveway and theirs is gone.

???

If we spoke the same language, I'd ask them what the problem is. Maybe it's some weird form of flirting? Is this a Middle Eastern mating call? It's really weird.

<p align="justify">Shit, and here I thought my parents' neighbours in Mission Viejo were bad: six mexican families crammed into a three bedroom house and a shitload of old cars parked outside[}:)] Fuck, I hate all those old, ghetto cars parked outside (which also belong to the residents of the nearby "HUD" housing project a block away). I can definitely see that part of the city going downhill within the next coupla years - "white flight" is still something to be seen in these areas.
