Ok, I get it. Kerri Walsh and Misty May are practically nekkid. When they win a big victory, they pounce on one another like lesbian vampires. I [i]understand[/i] the appeal of that. But after a point I have to ask: Do we really need to watch EVERY f***ing match of Kerri and Misty, to the exclusion of 30 other sports out there? Contrast this with a real sport like wrestling, which gets ZERO broadcast coverage, probably because the image of two sweaty guys rolling around isn't the nation's preferred flavor of homo-eroticism.

Based on the TV coverage one might think that there are only 4 olympic sports in existence: Gymnastics, Swimming, Synchronized Diving and Beach Volleyball. Naturally there are personal-interest montages for the key players in each of these events.

Also: Synchronized Diving! WTF?!?!? Is 'synchronization' the required evolutionary path of boring olympic events? What's next, synchronized boxing? I won't be satisfied until we have teams synchronized weightlifters on horseback like a scene in a Dr. Seuss book.

I'm okay with beach volleyball but not because Kerri Walsh and Misty May are scantily clad (though I would like to see Dara Torres take up beach volleyball...NOW). I enjoy the volleyball though your point is well taken. Let's spread out the coverage.

I hear what you are saying. Too much focus on just a few sports to the exclusion of others. I had no idea Beach Volleyball was an Olympic sport until recently. I dislike that they wear bikinis; I think it's unprofessional. But that is just me. Maybe our Pres. doesn't think so, as he seems to love his hands all over those ladies. Ugh.[xx(]

Has anyone seen a single match of MEN'S beach volleyball? Or any volleyball of the non-beach variety?!? ... I thought so.

I've seen professionals in nothing but a g-string and can assure you that this sort of attire has no bearing on their skill, competence, dexterity, nimbleness, flexibility, and by golly, the sheer raw desire to please.

This morning they were showing Russia against Georgia in wbv. On the Russian team, during the serve the girl at the net position uses hand signals to communicate to the server.

So the TV was zooming in frequently for close-ups on the hand signals (read: The Russian Girls Ass) as she bent over during the serve. Thus we got to see all manner of details on important aspects of the sport, namely bikini bottom wedgies.

I haven't seen a minute of Women's Volleyball, I have had to sit through the American Men's #1 teams first round vicxtory and then their win yesterday and I saw another Men's team (do we need two?) win a day or so ago. Unfortunately I did catch the Men's indoor team as well, wondering why it was necessary for one guy on the team to wear a different jersey than his teammates. I guess it's where you live and what time you watch. What i have the biggest gripe about (In addition to why do they only show swimming and gymnastics) is the LIVE emblazoned on the top of my screen, which means at some point it was LIVE but not now because I saw who won on the internet an hour ago!

In women's indoor volleyball, why do they need a group hug after scoring every point? Also, do they really gain anything (other than the number of ogles) by wearing spandex uniforms?

They show lots of men's swimming, does that count as 'homoerotic viewing'? the swimmers kind of make out a little in the pool after races....

Homoerotic is a state of mind, so if you don't feel anything as you watch those dripping males pal around with one another, it probably doesn't count.
