What a great weekend treat! I was at work then all of a sudden I felt it coming on. Went to the e.r. and hit the floor. Great way to end the summer. I am back home now with heavy pain killers. The stone ripped through my kidney and we are waiting for it to drop. Have a great weekend!

Ironically, the Seinfeld episode where Kramer passed a kidney stone and yelled so loud he made the trapeze artist fall off the high wire was just on here.

Thanks for the good wishes guys. This totally sucks. The pain is terrible when it happens. I was on the bathroom floor of the e.r. puking and in great pain. I already drink tons of water and stuff. Now I will get my glands checked out because it looks like I am making the stones on a regular basis. (every 2 years) I am about to take my meds. hydromorphone hcl 2mg.

I was a stone maker - changed my diet and have been stone free since 2002. Don't know if it will work for you but I did it because I never wanted to feel that pain again. You know what I'm talking about. OUCH![xx(]

I love how expressly open our little online community is with each other. Hey, isn't beer good for getting rid of those horrible kidney stones? Good grief, I couldn't imagine those mineral deposits with razor-sharp, crystalline edges tearing through my system. I'm gonna be pro-active and have a beer right now to ward off any potential problems. Hard work trying to stay healthy.

Abster: Cranberry juice is good to help keep a healthy prostate too.

I'm way ahead of you marv...Sam Adams Octoberfest is out. I just polished one of those off. Great stuff! Er...I mean...great prevention plan for those kidney stones.

That sucks, Philly. Be sure that once you pass the stone your physician sends it off for composition analysis. Most stones are made of calcium salts and patients with multiple stones may benefit from a drug called hydrochlorothiazide if dietary changes don't help. If the stone is made of uric acid another drug called allopurinol may help

We got the stone last time and it was calcium. My doctor checked me out and said I should not take the drug because it takes me a full 2 years to get a stone and it might not happen at all. Well now I can't listen to him. So after my follow up visit next week, I will go to a gland doctor and check all that out. If everything is fine I am going on that drug you said. The worst part about stones is that it can happen anywhere anytime and you are in trouble. It makes you scared to go anywhere. So far nothing came out but it is past the kidney so the pain is not like the other pain when it is ripping through your kidney. Thanks for all the advice Y'ALL!

Poor Filipinos are selling their kidneys for 30,000 to 40,000 pesos and a lot of oreigners are shopping here. Law recently banned the sale of kidneys to customers but thay cant stop it.

Been there, had two procedures to get rid of mine (ultrasonic blasts) and have been stone free for about 3 years. Had to have a stint placed in one tube from the kidney to the bladder. Made me feel like I had to piss every 15 minutes and it was in me for a month and a half.

They had to take it out with a long pistol gripped grabber thingy while I was awake and there was only one way to get it out....you guessed it. The Dr. asked if it was ok for some medical students to watch the procedure. I said sure but was horrified to see 4 female students walk in and watch. They were trying to make small talk with me while the Dr. was preparing. All the while I was in stirrups with my junk hanging out. Not a happy day for me plus it was cold in there...you all remember George from Seinfield and the shrinkage episode right?
