Any iPod news?

Many of you seem to be in the know when it comes to high tech gadgets. I was wondering if anyone here has heard any rumblings of new iPods coming our way? I've been dying to get a new 160Gig iPod but know as soon as I do they will come out with a 500 Gig one a month later. Soon after I bought my 20 Gig iPod they came out with a 30 Gig one for the same price. Any links or info to avoid repeating this buyer's remorse would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Weird that I JUST read rumors that they'll be rev'd before Christmas while I was reading up on getting a new iMac (only minor revs there). New MacBooks too I hear.

Thanks for your responses. Unfortunately my mind was made up for me by Hannah, Ike, and Josephine. I bought hurricane shutters today. The new iPod will have to wait.

We should be fine now. This past winter I cut up the plywood which we had used as storm shutters during the 3 hurricanes which affected us in 2004 (It made a very nice attic floor). That action brought us tropical storm Fay.

Now that I have spent a couple grand on aluminum storm shutters all three storms out there in the Atlantic basin right now should turn completely away from Florida. As long as I remember that Murphy's Law is in full control in our household I can beat any adversity.[;)]

For me, I have a 30GB Ipod, so I do hope to replace by early next year. I already have more on my Media drive that can definitely fit on my Ipod (right now, I practically have no videos on my Ipod--and not every track I have).

I also haven't finished putting ALL my CD tracks on my Media Drive (For a number of them, I have only select tracks). I am considering eventually having most of my CD's in storage because I do not play them anymore.

So I do have lots of goals. :) So I'd be fine with a 160 GB Ipod right now . . . well, for the moment at least. Still, my Ipod is mainly for music--I'm not into watching television shows or movies through the tiny interface as of yet. I'm also hoping to have a Kindle within a year as well--might as well turn more into the new wave theme songs in my lifestyle when it comes to more and more technology.

iLounge has a bunch of rumors, including potential price drops. There's an event Tuesday to announce the new iPods.

From this week's iLounge newsletter:
As we mentioned above, Apple this week sent out invitations to select members of the media for a special "Let's Rock" event scheduled for next Tuesday, at which the company is expected to launch its latest family of iPods. Shortly thereafter, iLounge obtained and posted what we believe to be dimensional drawings of the new iPod nano and iPod touch, complete with surprises.

Thanks for the links beatschool & mojowkn. I guess we'll find out tomorrow what's coming up in the immediate future of Apple.

Oh, and marvymarv, sorry to divert tropical storm Hannah your way. But exactly what I said would happen did. Both Hannah & Ike were headed at me until I bought aluminum shutters. Way to go, Murphy!

Thanks again beatschool & mojowkn. I was leaning toward the 80 gig iPod classic and would have been burned once again except for the info on those links. Now I can get a 120 gig device for the same price[:D]

I like the iPod touch, as that it has all the iPhone's features without the tiedown to AT&T, nor any phone-related feature. just all the other goodies. But the storage space is less than that of my 60 gig ipod.

I'm happy to see a return to a more vertical Nano. The new iTunes is rocking my world. This new visualizer is totally frackin' rad and the new grid view owns.

Jefe dude, it's ok. My lawn needed a good, long drink [;)]
