How much has your gas prices risen today? It jumped another 40 cents a gallon today at some spots on top of being raised slightly yesterday. They had such a run on gas at Costco they had to have people directing traffic in the parking lot.

In Austin, it's up 4 cents today at $3.59 a gallon. I'm astonished that's all, because demand will be up significantly. Tons of people are coming in from Houston and the coast. According to the news, it's taking 7 hours to get here from Houston. It normally takes 3.

We're in Ike's path and Valero stores actually lowered their prices (not sure if all of them did, but two in neighborhood area). Regular was $3.46, premium $3.56 and Super $3.66......this morning they were ALL $3.46, for any of these grades. A decent gesture. Granted, overall prices are still way the heck too high, but this struck me as a decent gesture to perhaps ease some worry from everyone already worrying about Ike. Tonight will be a rough ride, but we're stocked with plenty of water, canned goods, flashlights, batteries, etc....plus I have 2 kickass generators. Why have one when you can have two. My wife thought I was nuts to get a second one, right now she's happy to know we've got a backup for our backup. I was supposed to be stuck at the hospital for duty, but seeing as two kids and a 7 month pregnant wife at home, they admitted I was needed more at home. Wouldn't have mattered, my family comes first, PERIOD. But they were pretty understanding really and didn't hesitate to make me scram to get home.

I was talking with a friend that lives in Jacksonville FLA, she said she saw premium unleaded selling for $5.62/gallon.

Prior to a few years ago I dont remember gas prices rising with every hurricane. Sounds like crap to me. Prices here rose 20 cents in one day and the Hurricane was just in the process of hitting, so what justifies todays price increase? Ike did not affect the price of gas that the station already has to sell?

On Long Island, we have a gas station that we go to regularly because it has the cheapest gas prices around. Regular was $3.667 per gallon on Thursday. It was $3.999 yesterday.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

In my area of Long Island I paid $3.67 gallon yesterday.

Here in Toronto, price jumped from $1.23/l ($5.47 cdn/Imp. gal.) to $1.36/l ($6.05 cdn/Imp. gal.), Thurday night/Fri. morning, before Ike hit. Price went up another 2 cents/l overnight. $1.38/l ($6.14 cdn/Imp. gal.). So almost 70 cents/Imp. gal since Thursday night.

ETA: If I did the math (and exchange rate) right, the current equivalent is roughly from $4.48 US - $5.02 US/US gal., since Thursday.

Price gouging at the wholesale level for the most part. Despite the fact that their cost for their current supply is already known, greedy retailers, worried about future profits have decided to take some additional profits up front.
Oil prices, on the futures market (October delivery), continue to drop (partially because a slightly better exchange rate for the U.S. on the back of a slightly strengthening dollar) which should, theoretically, bode well for October pricing but it never really works that way.
Retailers knew there would be an increase in short-term demand because consumers wanted to beat what they anticipated to be a short-term price spike ahead of Ike's disruption of domestic production.
The scumsucking retailers decided to derail consumer strategy and play the fear to their own advantage.

Really? Lucky you! I had to go into Lindenhurst last night and never saw better than $3.99 anywhere along the way.

Filled up on Friday @ $3.45/ gal. Today it looks like it's up to around $3.61 avg.

I was in the old town on Labor Day Weekend. My mom still lives there and my sister and brother-in-law live next door to my mom.
