In the midst of the greatest economic calamity of our time, Canada went to the polls today…and they estimate that less than 60% of Canadians voted. In other words, there were more than 10 million eligible voters who didn’t vote!!! 10 million Canadians who didn’t care or didn’t think their vote would make a difference. Pathetic.

Right now it looks like our right wing conservative party will gain some seats but still fall short of a majority government, as they did in 2006. The separatist Bloc Quebecois party continues to hold almost 50 seats in parliament even though the majority of Quebecers don’t want to separate!?! WTF?!?

No real change here. We spent $300 million on an election and accomplished nothing.

When I was leaving the polling station today I overheard an older lady commenting that it is our “privilege” to vote. Yeah, I get that, but I have a stronger word – it is our “duty” to vote.

I hope the US takes note of this colossal waste of time north of the border and people actually get out and vote! For goodness sake, please exercise your right to vote!

Right wing Conservative? Put down that Liberal brochure zill. Thanks to the Loony Liberals and NDP, the Conservatives look to be more of a centrist party than anything else. As for Quebec...further proof they are more stupid than any other Canadian.

Au contraire, it served to punish the Liberals for putting their party ambitions ahead of those whose values they purported to represent. They had 43 chances to bring down Harper's government, but couldn't once do the "right" thing. Harper's position now is as good as a majority as the opposition has no chops to continue the fight, so dare I say "mission accomplished"?

Just so I don't get painted as a Dipper or something, make no mistake about it, from a leadership and economic responsibility point of view, Harper was the ONLY choice.

I'm disappointed that we have yet another minority government and will probably have yet another election in 2 years. It is destabilizing. I'm frustrated with the realization that no Canadian political party will win a majority government as long as the Bloc Quebecois continue to win 40-50 seats in Quebec. That is a travesty.

The only thing I'm happy about is that Peter McKay kicked that tree hugging dip shit's fat ass out of my hometown riding in Central Nova.

Duceppe won with the old "we have to stop Harper" platform. The fact that Quebecers continue to buy it says a lot for their collective intelligence. How can the Bloc represent their interests in Ottawa when they are always on the outside looking in?

That was one of the highlights of the evening for me as well...although I missed when CTV asked Dion if he was disappointed at the outcome, and he blasted them by saying "CTV are the last people I want to talk to, do you understand?"


I guess we finally learned from this display of logic...

And on the plus side, our election took a whole month. Some other countries seem to able to drag theirs out forever.
