Not quite the same thing, but I knew a native English speaker, born and raised in the USA, that spoke with a Mexican accent. This was the sister of a girl I was dating in college. I couldn't figure out why the sister had this accent when my girlfriend didn't. I asked my girlfriend about it and at first she denied that her sister had an accent. A couple days later after listening to her sister closely, she agreed with me. I think the sister just had a lot of Hispanic friends and had subconciously started imitating their accent. Kind of strange and funny.

Maybe we ought to stop beating our youngest child. All that knocking her around might explain why she talks like she's from Boston. It's the craziest thing--the rest of us have pretty thick Texas drawls. She says "caaaaah" for "car" and the like. I've always wondered if she has some kind of speech impediment, but now I know to just stop smacking her around. [:D]

Hmmm. Could this explain why Mick Jagger sang with an American Southern Accent? [;)]

My younger sister has a New York Brooklyn accent and she grew up in Boston. She's the only one in our family that speaks like that...I kinda like it[:)] My friends get a kick out of it.

If you shook her around like a magic eight ball, maybe a different accent will come out! [:D]

I'm wondering if being exposed to a foreign accent prior to the condition is a prerequisite??? I've always wondered what someone with Tourette's would scream if they've never been exposed to foul language.

Did the American Psychiatric Association change the name? Didn't they used to call this Madonna Syndrome?
