Just bought a Panasonic DMP-BD35K, for "only" $299, which ain't bad, considering first-generation players were just under $1000. I'm very happy with it, only it doesn't play discs in PAL format, which was a big disappointment, as I can't play my various music DVD's from Australia & the U.K. I don't have a need for an all-region player, though.

What the fuck are you looking at? The page Schwenko posted lists Sony and Panasonic players that are multi-region/all-region.

This is only for the DVD region code, not for Blu-ray discs.



Currently, there are many Blu-ray discs that are not region coded. Of course, that will probably change when Blu-ray gets more than 10% marketshare on discs.

You wanna dump 500, 600, 700 on one? Be my guest. I'd just get a regular blu-ray player for cheaper and wait until they go down in price and a hack comes out.

Agreed. I wouldn't even pay $150 for any Blu-ray player. Well, actually, I would, if Sony weren't such turds and made a Blu-ray player that supported their own SACD format.

I guess you missed my previous post where I pointed out that the Blu-ray player hack that you hyperlinked to was to hack the region code for DVD playback only, not for Blu-ray discs playback.
