It's a strange thing, ain't it? A rectangle in the land of the cylinders. Are they just a remnant of transistor radio days? I thought they were cool for some reason when I was a kid. After all my f*cking fire alarms started chirping last night at 3 f*cking AM to have them replaced - not so much. I mean, how many f*cking 9-volts am I expected to keep around the f*cking house? The f*cking 9-volt...

If you buy "Energizer®" brand, then, yes.... they do rule ---power my distortion and delay pedals for my guitar waaayyy longer than other brands or double a's (if they fit) would....plus, they fit into smaller areas.

Exactly what smaller areas do they fit in?

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Coolest thing about the 9volt was putting your tongue on the leads :).

"They" really need to come out with new standard battery sizes for modern devices. Make some in shapes like a memory stick, compact flash, and/or SD card. Let's get rid of all these proprietary rechargables crap.

this going to sound like I have lead a sheltered life, but I have never done the 'tounge on leads' thing. I'm assuming a shock right? or does it taste like a alkalie?

Blir , you should switch to lithium 9-volt batteries. The lithium battery last about 5 times longer than the alkaline 9-volt battery.

A viscous alkaline gel spurts out much like a Mentos in a Diet Coke.

Yeah, it's kind of a cold burning feeling (contradictory, I know), what I guess acid (not the drug) would feel like.

Is it worth the premium to get Lithium batteries for low-drain devices?

I would describe it as a tingling feeling on your tongue with a slightly metallic taste.
