It used to be such a huge night in my life. Now it means absolutely nothing. I plan on watching movies by myself as the family sleeps. I will add that New years in my past was legendary.




Worlds GREATEST Photographer!

Staying home with my wife and son. It's amateur night out there. I used to love it in my younger days.
In theory, it represents the hope that the new year will bring unprecedented happiness and success. In reality, it represents the transition from December to January and the promise that I will write the wrong year on at least four documents before the first week is out.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

It used to be huge for me too. Now, it's another night, not much of a big deal. We'll probably have something good for dinner & hang out & watch movies - that has become my idea of a great New Years Eve.

A friend used to come over & we'd watch old & very bad Joan Crawford movies (I Saw What You Did, Trog, Straitjacket, etc.,) but we've run out of bad Joan movies. I got some campy 80's movies for Christmas (Prom Night II: Hello Mary Lou and Night of the Comet) & I think they'll get a play tonight.

Maybe go out to dinner if hubby doesn't have to work O.T. due to the weather. Then watch a movie with the kids and eat some junk food as I vow to not eat anymore tomorrow or the rest of the new year.
The kids will go up to bed and I will probably watch my latest favorite movie "The Notebook" for the 200th time.

I'll be finishing up a book (Geoff Emerick: Here There and Everywhere). A great book about being The Beatles recording engineer.

Other than that.....nothing. I quite drinking years ago and I lost some herb in the dryer last week so, there you go. A night with Boring Max.

Oh, I'll also be available as a pickup driver if any of my ankle biters get in a situation where they can't drive or their ride can't drive.

Remember how fun it was to go out on New Years! You got to see some old friends who were in town for the holiday and had a blast! Well all thats in the very distant past it seems but I'm OK with that now! I'd rather take the kids to the fireworks stand and let them "burn" some of their Christmas money. After they go to bed we'll probably stay up too late watching the Jon & Kate plus 8 DVD's I got the wife for Christmas, we're addicted to that show currently.

This used to be such a huge night for me, too. Until last year when I indulged a bit too much and it sucked. NYE was always so cool because it's not religious, it's not Hallmarked, it's not anything but an excuse to party just because the calendar changes !
But starting tonight, we will have a new tradition: dinner party with friends, then finish up early and go home before the drunks hit the roads.
It still means a lot--I'm very optimistic and always look forward to what is around the corner--but it's just not going to be as wild as has been in the past. I can't even stay up late anymore ![:(]

I'm staying home as well. I have to finish reading and providing feedback on a manuscript that someone wrote and then I'll probably watch some old horror movies. Mrs DG is visiting her folks out of state, so we'll get on the phone in a little while.

If I really feel like living large, I may go out and get a milkshake before the drunks hit the road.

Tomorrow morning, there's a 5k downtown, so I'll probably run that.

Oh yeah, it's the virgin Mary's birthday today! The catholic church can't just let you party, it's a holy obligation day/mandatory to attend church day...[:p][:(][}:)]

We are just hanging around the house tonight. We never do anything on NYE. Too many drunks and crazies out (read: tourists).
