Okay, I'm looking at adding another toy to my computer. I'm running Vista home premium and I yanked out my old video card from my last xp computer. I don't think it's compatible with vista so I've been looking at USB external video capture devices so I can rip VHS and edit them similar to my old video card capabilities. I'm not a gamer so I don't need a top end video card just something to capture/rip. Anybody like the newer USB 2 external devices or should I look at a regular internal card. I need to keep it cheap as I was recently laid off so not a whole lot of funds. Anybody have any advice?

I don't think they make any combo graphics cards anymore (like the ATI All in Wonder), although you may find some older ones.

A video capture card start around $50. I would opt for PCI over USB, personally.

Easiest option would be to buy a DVD Recorder, which can be had for $100.

If you've just been laid off, it doesn't sound like you should be buying anything right now.
