Windows Media Player

My semi annual "help the dumb guy" question.

Windows Media Player has just "dissappeared"--will not open on the main screen name on Vista. Change user and it does appear. But main screen name, administrator, it does not appear.

Any clues?

Not to be a smart-ass; dump Vista, reinstall XP and all your troubles will stop... I had to buy a floor/demo model from a computer store to get XP after they stopped selling it last June/July. Sorry, that's all I can think of... you found a bug/glitch, as they used to say at the old computer software maker I worked at in the tech. dept.: "It's a 'new' feature!"

I didn't think those major OEM licences were transferrable.

I can check with my friend in Chicago, I think he bought a whole bunch of licenses from MicroSoft just before they discontinued selling XP. I have no idea what he's charging... LMK!

I hate to say this but I bought a new PC just a month after Vista came out. I still had the option of getting XP but chose Vista (I know...not too smart to buy the first release). Nonetheless, I have had absolutely, positively zero problems. It took me a day or so to get used to but it has served me well.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

I have Vista and have never understood the complaints, lucky I guess.

I will also tell you, my mom just purchased a computer from Fry's Electronics last week and it came with XP. www.frys.com

I have had a Vista machine for a little over a year now and have had no problems recently. However, the first month I had it was filled with many problems and numerous blue screen of death sightings.

Once I figured out that not every bit of software preloaded on the computer was truly Vista compatible, my problems went away. I got rid of software programs which I will never use. I then settled on Avast antivirus and Comodo firewall. Since then no problems.

I've got two running Vista and, aside from getting used to it, I've had no problem. Hated it at first though.

You didn't happen to notice any little footprints around it before that happened, did you?
