So, what scene from a movie scared you or freaked you out? I have a good idea how this was done - but it was still pretty freaky

It was the whole "Alien" movie. Take your pick, the face grabber, the stomach popping scene, the head biting...
I didn't watch it all the way through until the 3rd time I saw it.

I saw "The Exorcist" when I was 7 and it scared the hell (har har) out of me. To this day, I will not watch horror movies. That movie ruined them forever for me.

Holy fuck. Wow. That is pretty damn creative! lol It's probably wrong that this registered as morbidly funny to me, except for the part with the young girl. XD But I am just in aw of the thought that went into that, and how many characters die simultaniously... that was just... wow... XD
I'm haveing trouble thinking of what's freeked me out. Hmmm... Psychologicaly the whole Bladerunner movie freeked me out. My heart ached for the replicants. I hated Deckard and wanted him to die. So that whole movie was just disturbing for me. (I'm sure that was the point of the movie, though.)

This one from Exorcist 3 is a classic:

Jeezuz.. that ghost ship scene is just horrible! heh. Sadly Mythbusters have (pretty much) disproved the theory of a high tension cable slicing cleanly through a person, but it shows good imagination! (Though i put it to mythbusters they will always get different results using pigs as anlogues due to their tougher skin)
I guess maybe it COULD be possible given a thin, strong, tight enough cable and enough velocity.. but i think it would have to be travelling unaturally fast.. probably too fast for the diameter of the cable. Anyway.. i'll shut up.. it's a movie.. that's what movies do! [:D]
The scene from Resident Evil where the laser cutting walkway defence mechansim slices through people into little cubes etc reminds me of this a bit. That was also pretty sickening.
Not a huge amount shocks me these days, but when younger it would have had to have been Nightmare on Elm Street (couldn't sleep properly for weeks) and American Werewolf in London (the dream sequences with the Nazi-Mutant looking dudes with machine guns used to freak the crap out of me (almost literally))

oh yeah - I almost forgot about this one - before I really knew anything about special fx, this one scared the shit outta me when I saw it on the silver screen in 1983

All horror movies freak me out. I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to gruesome scenes: heads exploding, bloody body parts, body parts getting chopped off, etc. So, I don't watch them.
What started my aversion ? Scariest scene I've ever seen ?
Nightmare on Elm Street--the first one--where the teen boy is sleeping in his bed and an arm pops out through the bed, grabbing him and pulling him in, blood spurting up in a geyser. Ugh ! I was done right there I tell ya.

The Shining has always been my favorite 'horror' film this scene always freaks me out. partly because it is so odd...and seemingly disjointed from the film (I dont think it is really refferenced in the King book either...) at the same time it seems so sinister....creepy without all the blood or gore.

this goreless one from 'Lost Highway' also makes the hairs stand up on my ass.

the laugh in 'stereo' (Blake on the phone and infront of Pullman) is the best

This one from Carrie. I'm sure there's more. I'll have to think on it. I love a good scare.

edit- the small screen doesn't do it justice.
