DID know: that he was an inspiration to many new wave artists, including Joy Division and obviously The Normal, especially regarding the ideas of a dystopic future.
Did NOT know: that Empire of the Sun was a fictionalized autobiographical novel of his days in Japanese internment.
Seems like he led a full life. I'll not shed a tear (of petrol or otherwise).
