Finding a wee bit of time to read again. Would love some ideas on good books. I picked up Haruki Murakami's "After Dark". It follows some compelling characters "after dark" in Tokyo. More going on than meets the eye. Has kind of an "After Hours" or "Into the Night" feel to it, as if those midnight to dawn hours are truly another more-intimate and interesting world. Particularly good read as I read most of it in a coffee shop in New Haven while waiting out a gig that I took my kid to. Definitely intend to look up his "Kafka on the Shore" and "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle" now.

How about Norwegian Wood?

Read "Remains" by Michael McBride over the weekend. Good, twilight-zoney kind of story.

I'm in the middle of "A Tale of Two Cities" and collection of short stories by a guy named Ronald Kelly.

If anyone's looking for a really great creepy/suspense novel, I highly recommend picking up a copy of "The Search For Joseph Tully." Still one of my favorite reads of all time...

"Bonk" by Mary Roach. Fascinating and hilarious account of how science has tried to investigate human sexuality over the last 100 years or so. Highly recommended.

World War Z by Max Brooks. They are turning the zombie political satire into a movie

I've been getting into the classic writers again. Just read "Something Wicked this Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. Also, been watching the HBO series of half hour stories by Ray Bradbury Theater. Very 80s looking and dated. I'll finish disc one but don't need to finish series.
John Cheever "Short Stories" Also read both "The Complete David Bowie" and Hallo Spaceboy: The Rebirth of David Bowie, Murakami's "After Dark", David Sedaris "When You Are Engulfed In Flames". I have another book that I haven't started called "The Narrative of Cabeza de Vaca" The story of some of the first Europeans and the first-known African to encounter the North American wilderness and its Native inhabitants. I picked this up after our cross-country trip (NJ to CA) last Fall08. Just read the intro so far.

I am currently reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Champman to help better myself. And for fun I started a group of books based on the HBO series True Blood by Charlaine Harris.
