BROOKFIELD - A Girard man is in jail after admitting that he inappropriately touched and kissed a 7-year-old girl last month, according to police.

Paul E. Tomczak, 59, 22 Brown Court, has been charged with gross sexual imposition. He waived his preliminary hearing during an arraignment in Central District Court Thursday and was being held in Trumbull County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Brookfield police said Tomczak could face more charges depending on the outcome of the investigation, and his case now will be heard by the Trumbull County grand jury.

"They'll put it all together," said assistant prosecutor Sean O'Brien. "They're looking at him."

According to police reports, Girard police were contacted by the girl's family June 25 after they said Tomczak - a family friend - had taken her to various areas in Trumbull and Mercer counties on June 24 and 25.

The girl had told her family that Tomczak touched and kissed her, reports state.

The case was transferred to Brookfield police, and Tomczak told them he took the girl to Brookfield Township Park on June 24 and may have accidentally touched her while she was playing on playground equipment.

According to reports, at first he said the touching was on the outside of her clothing only, but then said he put his hand down both the front and rear of her pants and kissed her both on the cheek and lips.

Tomczak told Brookfield police that during a trip to Pennsylvania the next day, he only picked her up and carried her, possibly inadvertently touching her private areas on the outside of her clothing.

<p align="justify">Weird. Who would let their own kid be taken around town for two days with a crusty old dude?[}:)] I don't care if he was a "family friend," one of the parents shoulda been there all along.
